>>>Yet attackers want to restrict the sales of these games to anyone on the basis that they're unsuitable for children.
Who said ANYTHING about restricting sales for everyone? Even the most outspoken video game opponents (Sen. Lieberwhatever...) have only pushed for blocking *minors'* access to certain games. They *should* treat the game ratings as you would a movie rating - children under 17 (supposedly) can't get into an R-rated movie without an adult. Why should it be any different with video games?
It's slowly but surely catching on - DVD has passed the "early adopter" phase in the US (over 3 million players sold to date). It's only a matter of time before people put 2 and 2 together and realize that widescreen TVs are better for viewing DVDs. There are some new models coming out in the states that aren't prohibitively expensive (Toshiba's and Panasonic's lines, for example)
And with attitudes like that, Linux will *NEVER* gain the mainstream acceptance that Linux geeks so desperately want. I thought that was one of the selling points of the open source community - the users help each other, rather than relying on corporations. Or was I mistaken? Is the main selling point of Linux just snobby elitsim?
$2200-$2500 for a gaming box? I thought Linux was supposed to *reduce* hardware costs! Their PC's are a goor 25-30% more expensive than a comparable Dell or Gateway (which themselves are a good bit more expensive than home-built PCs).
I guess that blows a hole in the theory that Microsoft bundling inflates prices...
Can I get an AMEN?:) Seriously, I agree completely. The irony is almost sickening - I am considered a bigot and "close minded" due to my classic stance on morality, and all I hear is the liberal left SCREAMING for tolerance. Yet do they tolerate my views? Nooooo...
Here's something to chew on - if you don't *disagree* with a position, you are not *tolerating* it - you *accept* it. In order to "tolerate" something, you must fundamentally disagree with the issue at hand.
Oh yes, simply because Microsoft owns Hotmail, that is the only reason for the security hole. I'm sure there's NEVER been a Linux server with security problems (yeah, right)
If you have two million bucks, invest wisely (i.e. safe Mutual Funds), and live BENEATH YOUR MEANS (which for a millionaire means about $50,000 a year), you'll be more than fine. But McCabe will be flat broke in a few years at the rate he's going at. Fool.
My experience with CP is that sometimes they will block the entire IP address *at first*, but if you email them they are more than willing to allow access to the non-offensive directories. Sometimes it takes a while for them to respond, but at the rate that porn sites proliferate it's understandable that it might take them a while.
While CP has it's problems (if you turn the "bad word" filter on it'll block any site that has "love" in the URL), most people who use it (including myself) would rather have it go too far than not go far enough.
Besides, it sounds more like a problem with the ISP than Cyber Patrol.
Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but Linux is not the answer for the casual home user.

Gotta love the unsubstantiated anti-Intel propaganda... my P3/450 (running at 600mhz) is cool as a cucumber, without any additional cooling.
Funny - my Celeron 366 is currently running at 550, and my P3/450 is running at 600...
Barry... LaVon... get yo asses in the puddin'...
Maybe for the plasma flatscreens. There are regular FP widescreen TVs available in the states in the low $2K range
You're kidding, right? 5.5% is a *great* sales tax rate. Move on down to Tennessee, where we pay 8.75% sales tax (Praise God for the Internet!)

>>NT is NOT gaming friendly, but it appears that Linux IS gaming friendly. How nice!
Um, a handful of ports does not a gaming machine make. The Win2000 rc2 has run almost every game I have thrown at it.

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?
Thannk you - this guy needs to be put away for a LONG time, and I can't believe anyone would actually defend this human piece of trash.

UAE runs full speed on my P3.
Lame logic. Regardless if someone locks the doors on their car or not, if you take the stereo YOU ARE STILL A THIEF!!!
that is all.
Shot the goose, killed the hen.
I'm personally sick of the Windows / Linux "war". Just use what you like and shut up about it.
I didn't know the Time editors were Linux geeks...
Hey, it's not Microsoft's fault that Netscape is at least two years behind the times when it comes to DHTML/CSS/XML.
What the hell are you talking about?
