  1. I'll return to Paris Review. As for Lem ... on The Future According To Stanislaw Lem · · Score: 1

Its an excellent article, enjoyed it. I think it unlikely that the majority of civilizations would converge to a state of idleness and pursuit of bliss. First, there are too many physical forms of life and ours with our needs of physical pleasure and/or need for idleness, at times, is probably not common to all. Second, regardless of the physical form, there are too many paths that civilizations could take. Some could certainly enforce a specific lifestyle - by bio-engineering, medication or by law and enforcement but there remains individuals always in our cultures that choose to be different. As with a more robust nations, there are always some who pursue travel and exploration as a hobby and a means of pleasure.

  2. Re:Nonsense on Could Apple Kill Off Mac OS X? · · Score: 1

B.S Mac OS X is not an OS for high-end workstations. If you want a great OS, revive Sun Solaris. This was a great operating system for workstations and exists in obscurity now due to failed marketing and foresight by McNealy and Sun Micro. Solaris blew the pants off Linux for security and reliability and multitasking which are the first things needed to get the most of any high-end workstation.

  9. Mercury Spider Crater and Calderas of Venus on Messenger Discovers "Spider" Crater on Mercury · · Score: 1

If you review radar imagery of the Calderas of Venus, you find similar features to the "Spider" crater of Mercury. IMHO, the Spider is a collapsed Volcano. The interior expands with molten material which then vacates and permits a collapse of the volcanic structure, causing the radial channels. The largest channel appears to be due to a lava flow. Also uncharacteristic of an impact crater is the steepness of the walls and the height of the central peak, i.e. disproportionate to the size of the crater.

Simply, the worst movie is "Mission to Mars". Five, just five minutes into the movie and I was zoning out. Half way through the movie and I said out loud in the theatre, "This movie Sucks!". And I am a courteous type, never inclined to do that before. Leaving the theatre, I passed by the manager and said, "I want my money back!".

  12. WinModem on Installing Linux On A Wal-Mart OS-less machine · · Score: 2, Insightful

Keyword that should have been included in this article is WINMODEM. Drivers have not been distributed with the latest distros of linux, but there is a .org of developers that have Linmodem drivers under construction. Presently beta versions though. Good article though. Walmart should have sold the HW with full HW modems but that would have tacked on another $50.
