I'm afraid that it doesn't work that way, people are far too ignorant and lazy to care about "fair use" anymore. Just look at the iTunes Music store. Of course, everyone is just so enchanted with the idea of being able to buy music one song at a time for cheap and instant gratification that they are willing to overlook the "minimal" DRM. Well I say that any DRM is too much DRM.
It seems that I am in the minority, however. Everyone insists on racking up insightful mods by saying how Apple couldn't get the "big five" to do it without DRM. Why? CDs don't have DRM (at least, not yet, and not on a large scale, I'm sure this statement is a little bit shaky but I haven't encountered any of these evil CDs yet). Why do the rules change when we are talking about files instead of plastic discs? Because files are easy to copy? CDs are very easy to copy too.
Oh well, I'm sure that everyone will just reply by saying how stupid I am and that they are so much smarter and more insightful that I am. So whatever.
I can see that you are angry, but swearing only hurts your argument. I don't take you as seriously because it seems that you are just venting.
I have no defense against that, but it got your attention so I guess it worked as intended.
Just because you don't like Nintendo products doesn't mean that you should yell and curse at the people that do happen to like their products.
1. OK, I guess it might have been pretty easy to get the implication that I hate Nintendo products. However, that is not the case, I hate the people who are Nintendo fanboys.
2. I wasn't yelling: THIS IS YELLING!
You like Microsoft because they have brands that you enjoy.
I am quite indiferent towards the X-Box, but I still hate people that spread X-Box hating crap that probably isn't even true.
You don't need to threaten people because your views are different than theirs.
I didn't threaten anyone, just expressing some anger. Now if I had said "I will maim all Nintendo fanboys" that would be a threat. Maybe I subtly threateaned them with just my general anger, if that is the case, I apologize and you can rest assured that I will not harm you.
Why is it that whenever anyone goes on a rant bashing something the other party retorts by saying that they are just jealous? It is FUCKING CLICHE, and in this case not true since I really don't even care about game consoles. However, I do care about people who act like they are fucking superior because they own a Gamecube instead of an X-Box like it's some kind of fucking measurement of intelligence or class or some shit like that.
Disclaimer: I do not own a GameCube or an X-Box. But once upon a time I used to own a Super Nintendo and I thought it was a great *fun* system. I also thought Eternal Darkness was really fun for the GC.
From the article: You are now number two, ahead of Nintendo
Good, I can't stand Nintendo and their holier-than-thou zealots that spew their fucking X-Box hating bullshit constantly. This might get them to shut the fuck up because MS beat Nintendo. The Gamecube is the worst fucking console ever and I can't fucking stand the sight of it or the fucking fanboys who play them and insist it is the best. I take that back, it's not really the console's fault... but I can't fucking stand the god damn fanboys who insist the new Zelda game is the most amazing game ever like I give a fuck. Something tells me that they are just saying that because it is Zelda and it was made by Nintendo and they all desperately wanted Nintendo to rebound from Majora's Mask and so they just convinced themselves that it was the greatest game ever. This is just one of the many little things that Nintendo fanboys do to piss me off, so don't bother picking this one very tiny example apart. It was just the first to come to mind.
In conclusion, I can't fucking stand ignorant zealots that just follow their company of choice around like a puppy and drool like a fucking retard. Hopefully I am not the only one, and if I am, well... that is what the +1 Fuck You is for.
It's amazing how people always complain. People, it's not going to get better than this.
And it never will with your attitude. As far as I'm concerned, CDs are still the best way to get music. They may be a bit on the expensive side, but there is NO DRM, the highest quality that you can get on the consumer level short of getting the origional DAT recording (or a SACD or a DVD-Audio disc, both of them not as wide spread as Red-Book CDs), and most importanly the data is self-contained, there is nothing to download and nothing to lose in the event of a HD crash. Oh, and the best part of CDs, if they exists, there is some way to buy them. Virtually every artist that is signed on a label of any size has a CD that you can purchance either through their online store, or if they are a bigger artist through an online CD store such as Amazon or CDNow. If you are really strapped for cash there are some places that sell Used CDs. I picked up a copy of Implode by Front Line Assembly for $8. Beat that price. An of course there is e-bay if you are feeling brave.
The point I'm trying to make, is that I see no reason why we can't recieve the same quality of product that we get with ordinary CDs? Why do the rules change when we go into music stored in a file instead of in a raw stream on a disc? The rules shouldn't change, but with attitudes like yours (and attitude that I've been seeing far too often on Slashdot), it looks like we are just going to sit back and let them do whatever they want.
Anyway, when something doesn't work in Mozilla, but does in IE, it's 99.99% certain that it's a bug in the website code, where it isn't correct HTML/ECMAscript/CSS. So, a more accurate statement would be "IE is by far the better browser at guessing at what brain-dead authors meant to do."
This is absolutley correct, a lot of people at college used to start arguments with me about how IE is the best browser (I was using Netscape Communicator at the time, now I use Opera v6.02, thinking about trying Mozilla too). They always give me the argument that all websites work on it, when in reality it's all because IE is very forgiving on errors in the HTML code (one of my favs is when people don't have the closing </table> tag in a table. It displays fine in IE but it wouldn't display in Netscape because Netscape knew it was bad code)
Now I'm sure some of you are saying "the browser should be forgiving, a lot of people simply can't write W3C compliant HTML and I shouldn't have to miss out on their page just because my browser won't forgive a few mistakes" what I say to that is that forgiving browsers promote bad HTML coding (also the fact that most amature web designers only use IE to preview their sites doesn't help much either). Of course real pros know that not everyone going to their site is going to use IE and so they try very hard to make compliant code, but a lot of the internet isn't pro grade and unless people are forced to write proper HTML (just as programers are forced to write proper C code) then people will continue to make webpages that don't display correctly in all browsers.
ok, so OS X 10.2 is gonna be mad fast if you have a nice graphics card because everything is going to be rendered in hardware (e.g. those transparancies, and drop shadows and other eye candy that my mac OS X using associate is always raving about... yes I'm am PC user) however this is going to force some people to either buy new hardware or just never upgrade... this is something that just doesn't happen nearly as often on the PC side (I've seen Windows 2000 run on an ancient P 133, I'm sure a lot of you have seen even worse than that). Apple may be the first when it comes to graphical speed (and even them I've very skeptical) but they are dead last in Legacy Support...
and they are first in screwing their customers... even worse than Microsoft screws people...

yes they did, in fact System 7.5.5 and earlier were available as free downloads from download.info.apple.com

Can you please provide some sources for what you are saying? Not that I'm saying your wrong, but this place is a breeding ground for mis-information.

If I'm worng... please set me straight.
