  1. Re:This is great... on SACD-CD Hybrids -- A Way Out For Us Both? · · Score: 1

I'm a recording artist myself... and the difference is huge, you're fortunate that you can't tell because it bugs the crap out of me.

  2. This is great... on SACD-CD Hybrids -- A Way Out For Us Both? · · Score: 1

IMO, anything that is going to get more music on SA-CD is a great thing. You're going to have fair use problems with any audio format that comes out, so it should be no surprise to anyone that the idea of jumping to a different format is being considered. It'll still play in CD players and that's a good thing... but the most wonderful thing about SA-CD is that it's sampling rate is 64 times that of a CD, it's frequency response is nearly 5 times that of a CD, and it had a dynamic range of 24dB more than a cd! And with some cd's being multichannel the accuracy of the audio is just going to get so much better. The music I listen to isn't big label stuff, and the faster that SA-CD becomes standard for the big labels the sooner I'll be able to get my favorite music with vastly increased quality.

  4. Lucas has Ridley Scott's Blade Runner Syndrome... on George Lucas May Be Completely Evil · · Score: 1

There are like 600 different versions of Blade Runner... Lucas isn't there yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was headed in that direction. I wonder how he plans on fitting Howard the Duck into the new Indiana Jones film...

  5. Robots and Complexity on Core Lego Mindstorms Programming · · Score: 2, Interesting

A couple years back, before all the robot fighting shows started popping up, I decided that I wanted to get into robotics to enhance my art projects. I searched everywhere for books and relevant information, but all I found was extremely basic kids books that didn't really tell me anything useful or extremely complex stuff on "muscle wires" and the like. I found there wasn't much of a middle-ground and soon I was onto something else. It appears as though the scene has changed a bit, how much will Lego Mindstorms help me in learning how to create more complex interactive robots?
