    Where have you seen this? Everyone in the industry I've seen talking about this says that it will last for well over 100 years.

    A light year is usualy the distance that light can travel in a year. Imagine that light travels 1 mile per year... if you are looking at something 5 miles away what you are seeing is not what is happening now but what happened 5 years ago.

    At least this is what I understand, I am not an Astronomer or Physicist.

    I do not believe Americans (I am not one) are "uniformly ignorant". I do believe, however, that Americans tend to see technology as the solution for every problem in the world... and they trust technology to do just that!

    Maybe they think this will help the current state of Democracy/Government in the USA...

    Once again, I am not American, so I can be taking this out of my ass.

    You cannot join in perfect harmony 25 totally diferent things. It's gonna break out of artificial unity and when it breaks (not if) it will be a major colapse.

    Instead of forcing "constitutions" we should be trying to understand the needs of the 25 countries and decide to act on what we agree, not what we don't.

    I'm not american, but i'm curious. Can a citizen make a complain about this to a court or does it have to be the victim? In this case, the Democratic Senators.

    If so, who would be prosecuted? The tech? The Republican Party? The people who leaked the memos?

    Would someone think it was worth the effort? Could this open a new precedent against stupid computer laws?

    It would be interesting a poll to know how much the average geek sleeps.

    On work days i tend to sleep 5 to 7 hours but i compensate on weekend sleeping from 10 to 14 hours... don't know if it is the normal.

    I also read somewhere that oversleeping at weekend does not entirely compensate the lack of sleep trough the all week. Don't have a clue really, all i know is that by the end of the week it get's harder to concentrate.

    Yes... but will it help NASA to estabelish a base on the Moon or the budget will still be too short?

    I see the things as you do, but RMS isn't worried about adoption, he is worried about beeing FREE. Hell... he can be the only one using the stuff, the main quest is that it's free.


    At least i think so... i could never really understand RMS :)

    Because it's controled risk. And i rather have controled risk than broken protocols.

    Of course not. Just because i have NAT it doesn't mean i can't implement a firewall network wide with several DMZ's.


    Having said that, most of my machines already have a firewall of their own.

    IP addresses are more and more being done using 192.* or 10.* addresses.

    This is done because we have to, not because we want to. If IPv6 was a reality today i would put many machines with a public IP address that today are behind NAT.

    Well... i am not a great gamer, I use my EPIA mainly to play movies on the TV (DVD, DivX, XVid, etc) but i also played some games (Quake3, Starlancer, Civ3) and except for Civ3 that had a problem with the resolution of the TV it all went great.

    I was especially pleased with DivX not loosing frames and with Quake3 playing as well as in my normal computer.
