Methinks the king/queen mismatch might get annoying... and yes, this is not news... why does this stuff push importnat news (like ballmers linux sued threats) off the main page. a curiosities secion would be the ideal place IMHO!

If these large corporations are only now "grudgingly finally upgrading to 2000" they're going to run into a big, ugly "Not supported any more." wall very soon. Since Microsoft already wouldn't release a fix for the blaster worm for NT4, how long before their shiny, new Win2k boxes are easily rooted and can't be patched?

To me that reads as a fair and balanced news article. They have repesented both sides of the case with no opinion given.

I think perhaps you read slashdot too much.

Does anyone know of a way to prevent shutdown of a machine if someone else has drives mounted to its NFS shares ?

Put a sign on the server that reads "Do not shutdown this server". If you want a technical solution - use a post-it.

Mandrake is based in France, although they have offices in the USA. I would assume they can play DVDs legally because France allows the use of DeCSS for exactly what it was written for: The playback of your own DVDs on your own computer.

You'd have to say it with an American accent. "Bod" would come out more like "bawd" so you can see where the kids would get confused. Any English dialect that can't distiguish between "Body" and "Bawdy" needs some serious looking at.
