The problem is the current UK government is busy planning to close 100s of libraries. Just yesterday it was announced Kensal Rise library is closing, that was opened by Mark Twain of all people.
P.S. - I use an iPhone because it's free of carrier control. I want an Android phone, but giving up 3G isn't an option, and I want straight-from-Google updates.
Why would you have to give up 3G? I imagine there's very few Android phones that don't support 3G.
Either way until ebooks cost less than paperbacks I am not interested.
Why? You're paying for the words, not the media. Personally I love my Kindle. Some of the books I read are pretty large (I'm looking at you Peter F). My Kindle fits in my jacket pocket.
People in the UK have never carried guns and the ban has affected almost nobody. I've lived in London for 36 years and I have NEVER seen a gun, other than carried by the (rare) armed police, or military.
Even British police don't carry guns. There's a reason for that.
Europe is bigger than the USA. The European Union is smaller than the US.

"Even if you managed to attach a hard disk to the stupid edge connector it still needed a floppy disk to bootstrap it."
All Kickstart ROMs newer than 1.3 (released 1988) had the ability to boot from hard disk. It was one of the main differences between version 1.2.
TicketMaster are in bed with Clear Channel. Clear Channel own most of the large US venues and 90%+ of US radio stations. Also, the price you see on the ticket is not necessarily what goes to the band/promoter. It's common in the ticket business for the promoter/venue pay a kickback to TM.
Me too. Anyone know of a NNTP proxy that talks to the popular forum software (phpBB etc)? I started to write something myself once but got a big stuck on something or other.
I started using Sun Workstations back when they had the Motorola based Sun-3's.... On Sparc architecture, you can't de-reference a pointer to an int if the address is not divisible
by 4. So you have to do a byte copy into memory properly aligned for 4 byte data.
The same was true on the Sun-3's too! There is a performance hit on the 680x0 (plain 68000 crashes) if the address is not divisible by 2... But you knew that, right?:-)
Sky One started airing SGU in the UK 4 days after Syfy...

Unless the neighbor knows what mac to spoof, he wont get on.
You know that your wireless devices are broadcasting their MAC addresses right?

I bought a pay-as-you-go Orange San francisco (aka ZTE Blade) for 99 GBP (~150 USD). Very nice phone. They're certainly comming down in price.
If you're a dev you use a ethernet/serial cable. KallistiOS (the DC homebrew OS) supports file IO over these.
You have no idea what you are talking about

Nearly all PCS & Laptops sold these days are 64bit and ship with 64bit Windows. Have a look at dell.com and try to find a 32bit PC.

Struggled a bit during the world cup England games though. Not like that's a problem anymore...
Spurned on by your comment I just tuned into Radio 4. 'The Archers' is currently playing. Cheers for that, the Archers is L337!
I'll stick to LBC thanks.
GCC can be used to compile Windows Mobile apps. ScummVM for example.
Totally agree, it reminds me of using my Amiga on a CRT TV.
Shouldn't that be 0xABADCAFE ?
Why does the ASP.NET AJAX library need a 400k .js file? Isn't that a bit excessive???
FYI Ireland converted to miles in 2004 or so.
Spirits in the UK have been sold in 25 or 35ml measures for some time now.

After Pandora pulled the plug on the world it still worked in the UK for around 6 months. They were forced to block UK IPs due to royalty demands.
