  1. Re:For the love of God... on Why Everyone Loves Apple · · Score: 1
    ... the phrase is 'could NOT care less'. If you COULD care less, that means you do care and have room for treating your customers worse, doesn't it?
    Actually, BOTH versions have always worked for me, and here's why:

    The construction 'could NOT care less' is obvious;

    and I always understand 'COULD care less' to be sarcastic, as in:

    "I COULD care less... (but I don't)." ...with the caveat assumed.

    So, I don't really have a problem with either version, though I understand why some do. You might think my explanation is stupid, but I could care less...

    What's your name I'll tell you who you voted for?
    How can you, when you can't even know whom you voted for? You certainly know who you intended to vote for... but not even voters for the "winner" can say for sure that their votes were registered as intended. The issue with blackbox voting is that nothing is auditable... except by the owners of the machines. Is that your idea of participatory government?
  3. Daily Show audience are better informed on Jon Stewart on CNN's Crossfire · · Score: 3, Insightful

    A number of posts here have belittled "The Daily Show" as being lightweight since is ostensibly a comedy show. However a recent study showed that TDS viewers are on average better educated and much better informed about current events "than people who regularly read newspapers or watch television news".

    It may be a "comedy" show, but Jon Stewart is angry because all these "news" shows pretend to do hard journalism and be informative, when it's clear that more often than not they are confusing the issue. He is angry because you must watch a "fake" news show in order to get real facts. He is absolutely correct: shows like Crossfire and "The Factor" do a huge disservice to the citizens of this country. The Daily Show is proof you can be entertaining and informative, whereas Crossfire and others only aspire to be entertaining.
