Modding real guitar to be guitar controller, friend has modded drums for a drum controller... given how much lip syncing is done in music now, at this point you'd basically be in "real" band!
Do the checks at each gate before people board planes, rather than corralling everyone up at a few detectors. Costs more? yes. Goes faster? yes, because everyone already has to wait at the gate once you get past the "screening". Applies to current TSA rules? yes... people still wouldn't be able to get on the actual planes.
Agreed, looking at the playback it's quite clearly 4 monitors stitched together, very cheesy and disappointing. It is not at all a "seamless" curved display , and looks surprisingly dumb compared with say, the zenview 6-way monitor which has defined seams. At least the picture remains sharp besides the seams, instead of having that weird fade line.
The cheapest I ever heard of a 2 GB flash drive was about $15, so this is over 400 of those put together or $6000. Even if they had some volume discount, I think anything under $1000 for an 800+GB flash drive is unthinkable... right?
it's only pointless until... do-do-do-do-doooo! (close encounters theme) With the odds of finding a signal so low as it is, maybe the signal we find will already be the encoded protein folding solutions.
Since first release, I heard it was something like another million or so this year. Here's a slightly out of date chart from the RIAA themselves on some albums that are defintiely still selling very well: http://www.infoplease.com/ipea/A0151020.html
AC/DC recently hit the 22 million mark on "Back in Black", so I refuse to believe that albums won't sell. I do, however, believe that crappy albums will no longer sell, and that you can no longer trick people into buying a crappy album (or endorsing the band behind it) with one over-produced song.
I got a better idea, how about checking id before getting on the plane? All they do now is scan your boarding pass. Anyone could have anyone's boarding pass and get on any plane, from what it looks like.
The easiest way to get to a non-incandescent dimmer light is to have an LED light that can dim out to using 1-N LED's for however many LED's it has. Sure, 1 LED may not be as fractional as what an "analog" light can do, but it's a heck of a lot dimmer than 10,20, etc. LED's.
Note the bottom of the actual "test": *top winners get interviews, every winner gets free software
so it's basically a way to send you free "software" that they will probably release on 1-18, which will probably turn out to be google yet again with the GPhone, just a guess but if it's not them I wouldn't even bother taking the test, etc.
How come certain cities seem to have extra bad, slow, etc. traffic? Just go drive in Silicon Valley on the freeway, then come to Columbus Ohio and see how infuriating the difference is.
The catch? you still can't get one to power your house with. That's a pretty big catch (complete unavailability of the advertised product or service)...
I think software that can't be sold for whatever reason should default to being open sourced, so we don't lose it forever. There's a lot of good stuff out there, not just games.

Please send me my $500k check, thanks!
Sure I did, I just connected them all together into a megalith.
why is this better than a gadget that has all that stuff already in it?
Nope, there was a recent case where you can refuse to provide a PGP key based on the fifth amendment, anyone have the link for me?
thx

Isn't this somehow a dupe since all those were probably posted when they really happened?
It looks like Microsoft is making an effort to become more 'open' in the area of security research and communication.
That depends on what the meaning of is is.
Bell Stamp: I invented the telephone.
Gray: You stole it from me, Elisha Gray.
Bell: Read the patent number, bitch!
Everyone believes in downloading for personal use until you are financially dependent on such a download, and then you see what the problem is.
Here's an led bulb that supposedly works with a dimmer:

...except that it's not connected to a rat. Now if they could power a real rat with this thing, then you'd really have something.

Plus, all wheel drive is for girls! Why would anyone have anything but a rear-wheel drive mustang...makes no sense.

Microsoft: the best innovation money can buy.
How's that one?
