I administer a hyper-v infrustructure. We just evaluated R2 with the live migration feature and there is a major problem.
The CSV feature (a storage layer needed for live migration) is not supported by any form of backup software.
Microsofts backup solution, DPM is supposed to support it in the next release but that isn't even in beta yet.
I wish my company had gone with VMware.
I agree it is hardly shocking. I there is a small difference tho. Auto-updates can be turned off at any point. Once installed there isn't a nice "joe public" friendly way of turning WGA off.
Microsoft are coming to the conclusion that GNU/linux isn't going to disappear easily. now If linux continues to grow they feel they can freely jump on the linux bandwagon. I don't wanna share anymore.
"Windows XP Professional x64 will be priced at the same level as the 32-bit version of Windows XP Pro, Microsoft said in a statement, and the three versions of Windows Server 2003 x64 will come with price tags similar to their 32-bit Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter cousins."

now u can sell your product to those who got amd64 comps for xmas and weren't told that the pre installed os would be holding them back. also congratulations to linux x86_64 which is going on 19 months old.
Don't think they will be following the books story. Douglas adams recorded some of this series (he even plays one character) when they recorded the original radio series'. I'm hoping there is an old radio script they are using. we'll have to see tho
This should bring you up to date. At the end of the last series: The gang have discovered the whereabouts of the guy who makes all of the desicions about the universe. Arthur Dent (the last remaining male human) has stormed off in the "heart of gold" (powered by the improbabilty drive) after hearing that one of his companions Zaphod beeblebrox was behind the destruction of Earth. So the rest of the gang are stranded and its making marvin depressed.
find office to be insecure. Then they might think our country has many good programmers, so much software is imported from America its not good for our economy and there is alot unemployment in our IT sector. Then the government would feel more inclided to support its country's IT companys or make an example to their public and switch to open source. doubtful but I can dream.
With all the features firefox has what laws can be used to stop microsoft cloning. Who owns the patents on features such as tabbed browsing? It's scary how internet exlorer 7 is rumoured to have tabbed browsing and pop-up blocking. They just need to do an automatic update of internet explorer and firefox will be forgotten by windows users. Or can firefox stay ahead of internet explorer for the long haul?
If that open source risk company from new york takes off could it be used to take action against this as well is protect linux companys from the SCO's of the future?
Microsoft are making quite a big show out of learning linux.
He has Microsoft's salesfolk taking exams to qualify for certification as Linux experts.
How many linux users and developers would consider themselves quite expert at microsoft products? I'm sure there are alot of certified microsoft engineers that favour linux.
I'm from uk and I know there is a lot of unemployment in the IT area. So maybe a home grown operating system might be what is needed. It could be based on linux or it could be completly different.

How long do you people think it will be before harddrives are replaced by newwer forms of datastorage?
