Comparing to two for me is like comparing tree cutting with building houses.
When you build a house you need an architect and specific design rules so other people in the project can do their part. It takes a long time to build it, and someone has to live in the house a long time.
When you cut down a tree you're only interested in the fastest way possible to get it down safely. Who cares if it's pretty. If you didn't like the way the first one fell, you can make adjustments on the next.
A house builder wouldn't tell a woodcutter which axe to use. He doesn't care. Of course, woodcutters have no business building houses.
Personally? I like being a lumberjack. Nothing like fervorishly hacking away and yelling "TIMBER!" from a safe distance.
If it's communication you're worried about then worry no more. You know you knew what those bad spellers/grammarers meant. That's all words are for. To communicate an idea. Don't tell me it impedes your comprehension by spellings such as 'definately' or the use of 'should of'. You knew instantly and exactly what they were communicating. Complaining merely reflects your desire to control others. I'm not proud that my grammar and spelling skills suck but I get more bang for my buck by focusing on issues of significance. I'll just stay out of english teaching.
All in all though, the idea that a bacteria would cause a incurable disease is at the extremly long end of near insane thoughts. Any foreign bacteria would not be adapted to our natural defences against diseases, let alone some of our more complex immune system responses.
Unless that's why the Martians abandoned Mars and colonized Earth at Stonehenge (their version of Plymoth Rock).

The whole reason I use Perl is to hack out stuff quick and easy with minimul effort. The day I spend time reading about it is the day I read about better ways to masterbate.;)
Yea, WoTC are player-centric and responding to the needs of the average gamer. That's why it's turned into a bunch of munchkin-loving, battle-crazy crap! They have re-defined Role-playing into Roll-playing. Bravo!
