People paid $900 for a NEO-GEO didn't they? This is supposed to be more than just a console as well.
Some people paid for a neo-geo, but not enough to keep them in business. I admit that people with more money than sense would easily pay 900 bucks for what will amount to a throwaway game system. Just at 900 clams the masses won't be buying it. Hell, for most of the people I know the PS2 is good enough for them. Once the PS2 dropped to around 200 bucks everyone that I knew and their dog had one.
At 900 bucks there just won't be enough people buying them to keep them in business. Look at the neo-geo for your answerer there. How many of them are still around, where can you buy games for it, hell, can you still buy games for it?
For the record though I really don't think the PS3 will selling for 900 bucks anymore. Sony has done some dumbass things in the past but they are not stupid enough to land a game at a price they know, no one will buy.
Wait, you spend $400 for an Xbox 360 and $60 each for a few (3) games, which leaves $320. Assuming each girl gets the same amount, this means you just boinked two cheap hos.
And the moral of this little tale is? Do the math before you shoot off your mouth.
Screw the delay, what about the price? Are they denying the damn thing is going to cost 900 bucks? If they are not they might as well delay the thing to judgement day. I don't know anyone that is going to reach up their ass and pull out 900 bucks for a video game.
For that kind of scratch I could buy a xbox360, a few games, and still have enough left over for a night with a couple of high priced call girls.
Okay how this then for a problem? A few weeks ago I ordered a viewsonic 23" LCD from them, $1500. At the end of the order their webserver went ape shit and processed my order twice. I placed this order at about 1:00 AM and went to bed. I didn't notice the order fuck up until the next morning when I received two conformation letters. I checked my credit card and sure enough they had billed me twice for the tune of 3,000 buck. I send email and finally got through on the phone with them. They said they couldn't cancel the order because they had both been shipped.
They said just to refuse one of them when they arrive and it would be shipped back where they would refund my money. When they arrived, I refused one, it went back. They refunded all my money, the including the 143 bucks shipping and handling which I was expecting to be out of at least. Yeah a 143 bucks for shipping and handling was expensive but since this item was delicate they shipped it special carrier.
I took about a week to get my refund processed on my card but every message that I sent was answered by someone and not a form letter.
Netflix used to be one of the three companies that I thought could do no wrong. The other two where Sony and Google. The jury is still out on Google, but Sony can burn in hell for all I care. Seems like a company starts off alright but as they get bigger they start to turn evil.
I go through Netflix movies like shit through a goose so I guess that I'm on their heavy movie user shit list. Not really going to worry about it I guess. Most of the movies have been sucking so bad this year there is almost no new release that I'm really hot to get. Any new releases that I'm really really hot to get I usually buy anyway. I suppose that I can afford to wait an extra week or two for any other new releases.
Besides, right now I'm mostly watching old TV shows and anime on netflix anyway. Not much of a wait on those titles.
Er, not like Doom 3 or Quake 4 right? Those are not high end games?
Looks like Doom 3 and Quake 4 have been out for a couple of months now. Can these game truly take advantage of this card, or would a cheaper card do just as well? I'm not exactly sure that the existence of these 2 games anyway invalidate my argument. You going to spend 500 bucks to play maybe 80 bucks worth of games?
But instead of games are there any high end applications that you can get for linux that would make use of this card? CAD applications or other graphics applications that I might not know about?
Why would you want such a high end card for a linux box? The only thing that can take full advantage of a card like this is high end gaming. Since there are no such games available for linux, bsd, and soloairs I fail to see the reason you want to put this card in such a box. Are there any graphics applications under linux that would take advantage of it?
I have a nvidia 128MB card in my linux box that I paid 40 bucks for. It's blindingly fast under Xwindows. I would rather buy a modest priced graphics card under linux, maybe a little bit more powerful than the 40 buck special I have. Put the rest in places that linux would be better at, CPU, disk access, and memory. Just under linux or really any UNIX OS you really don't need a $500 graphics card for kick ass graphics.
Now if its a dual boot linux/windows games box, that is different.
No they don't. GIMP is a fine program for people who don't know, no better but to compare it to Photoshop is just plan foolish. Photoshops interface is well polished with everything you need relitivly easy to get to. Gimp's interface is a nightmare's. A few weeks ago when GIMP turned 10 under that thread that was the biggest bitch about Gimp. I don't know any semi pro or professional that uses gimp for their photo work. Hell, I don't know any armature that uses gimp.
Most people I know open gimp, take one look at it, and then close it because of the interface sucks. Come to think of it I have never even seen a article in any photo magazine about gimp.
Christ on a crutch. Just when I tough one of my jokes would go ever perfectly, no to mention two, someone without a sense of humor has to crawl out from under their rock.
Hey Sherlock, Mod +4, Funny. Apparently everyone else got it but you. Damn that sucks.
Bah, wine. Keep your fine wine, give me a good bourbon or a scotch any way. You keep your wine, I'll keep my scotch and I can be drunk and passout on the floor in half the time you can.
Why is this on here? We are nerds, we don't care about wine. It's moonshine we are interested in. Figuring out the fermination process, the complex weaving of pipes. Stealing the shit required out of the school lab....
That is what I have a wireless keyboard for that goes to the Media PC. I suppose this device would be use could be used for laptops to some people. I have all the devices that I would use on the laptop shared from the main computer. I just use them over my Wifi link.
Still even though I don't see much of a use for it now in my set up devices like this have a habit of becoming useful when you least expect it. I imagine that in 6 months to a year I will have one and could swear I didn't know how I lived with out it.
Not the wire to the hub

I don't know how useful this will be to me. Its not the wire, one, running to the usb hub, but the wires, four, running from the hub to the devices. Now if I could just plug in a wireless dongle to each device that would be cool.
It means the competition makes better cameras than we do and we getting our asses handed to us in our hats. We're going to hopefully sell our shit to a real company and hope to keep our heads above water.
The first might be true. Since when have you seen a pro using a minolta? The second isn't true because no matter which way you turn it sony sucks dog balls as a company.
Oh bullshit, firefly was never a money maker. If it was it would still be in production. Instead where is it? It's floating face down in the pool over at the SciFi network in a 6:00 slot.
Time to get real people, nobody watched it. Star Trek and B5 have been pronounced dead. Time to stick a fork in this turkey, its dead meat.
Actually that is what I'm looking at. The site is currently not responding to where I can get the code from, both the cvs and ftp sites are returning errors. Never written a bysitine filter before so this should be at least educational. No, still can't spell it.
It takes a little effort to submit a slashdot story. Some sort of bayazan, no i can't spell it, could be put in place to eliminate the dupes. It would take a lot of effort for someone to submit the same story over and over to get past the filter. He would have to sit down and rewrite differently each time. Tie that in with a filter that filters stories based on time and ip address then you can just about eliminate the dupes in an anonymous queue.
So what if the fellow is building a reputation or trying to build a reputation. What matters is the quality of the story and the quality of the write up that he submitted with it. Nothing past that matters. Your job as editor in chief of this here boat is the weed out the crap that goes on the front page. Not to police the reputation of the writers and users that submit the stories. We will do that ourselves.
If you ask me who submitted the article should be anonymous to the person who approves it. Once that is done the user id of the one who submitted the article can get tacked on. Who cares if someone is trying to build a reputation here? What matters is the quality of the articles on the front page.
Some people swear by dual displays. Personally I like my Viewsonic 23" LCD. I bought this beast because the ratio better matches the output on my cameras than the old square 19" one did.
From a Photoshop point of view I can see having dual monitors as a plus. You can put your tool pallets on one monitor and have the photo displayed on the other. Just keeping the monitors calibrated would be a bitch. That is why I prefer a single big ass monitor over dual displays anyway.
The same thing applies to programming too. I can keep the component pallets, editor, and outputs on one monitor. The application would go on the other.
What pisses me off about this is it will come to nothing. Some dumb ass excuse will be made an this technology will be shoved under the rug like everything else. How many such technologies that promise clean, renewable energy have been pushed aside?
Geothermal energy is a perfect example of this. Same old lines bullshit about being not mature enough, to expensive, or only available in certain areas. What a load of horse shit. Anyone with half a brain can tell that geothermal energy is a really available energy source. We are just to lazy a civilization to develop it.
I bet this will be shoved into the same hole as everything else an never be heard from again. Damn bastards.

Jesus man, get a life. Your bitching about a joke that you didn't get. Nothing else here to see.
Move on, Move on.
