Yes We have come to realize that Kevin Medina apparently re-locked domains that had been unlocked by the user. It has been said that his intent was to prevent any further loss of domains. Then he cut the connection in the control panel backend that allows DNS changes. As of today that is still the situation. Hopefully this will resolve soon.

  2. Re:Demand that ICANN invoke para. 3.2.3 on Some Hope During Registerfly's Meltdown · · Score: 1

Update of sorts...I have it on good authority that John and Glen are meeting with ICANN today to resolve the issues caused by Kevin Medina. It should be no surprise to those that work in datacenters, that one person with all the passwords can bring down almost everything, and apparently that is what Kevin did. Violating trust in such a way as we have seen here is the worst kind of nightmare.

www.registerflies.com - sign-up as a member and click the "Support Form" link to the upper top right of the homepage. The support form is not a "Back Door" like a hack in the way some think... its more like a way around the existing ticket system that gets important requests to the desks of people that can assist. They know that some people have lost $$ and sleep in not having their website up due to a renewal issue. The support people at the other end of this are in the USA and not outsourced.

Please again pardon my spelling and writing, i am in a hurry once again and only trying to assist. I am not an authoritative source - just another slashdotter. ( thanks hd1080i for whipping up the clip in short order on http://charlesferri.com/ )

Also I apologize for not taking more time on the wording of the original post writing, i was doing several things at a time and at a fast pace. Thanks out to those that fixed it up a bit for me. I am so used to whipping out log-lines for video that it has corrupted my other skills.

Yes Registerfly is Domain name regisration company. like Network Solutions, and GoDaddy.com ... when the post was written, registerfly's site was still up , so i assumed it would be self eveident to anyone not already aware but curious about it. -- Now www.regsiterfly.com is down because the 2 guys from inside the company that can fix it, are fixing it, right at the datacenter. ( they had to lock out one of the partners first, that guy was the one causing all the trouble) its a long story.

A lot of people have been burned by the circumstances leading up to this.

  5. Not a well crafted or up to date document on 2003 Privacy and Human Rights Survey Released · · Score: 1

Sorry - but the part they published on the US is not well crafted and old info. "Recent news reports indicate that John Poindexter will soon resign.[2912]" excuse me - Old john poindexter was out many weeks ago. Recent? Will Soon what? There is cursory mention of national ID's when months ago it was written into law that biometric driver's license info would become a phased in and in some cases mandated, becoming Federal Information. I'm sorry but if i was the proofreader for that document i would have ripped it to shreds and given it some teeth while i was re-writing it.

  6. I doubt that this prediction is perfect but... on The End of Physical Media · · Score: 1

I would bet that Sales Of Singles ( e/g/ one song download like iTunes etc.. ) on the web will explode into a viable long-term market... especially when it becomes obvious to consumers that the CD has only 1 or 2 good songs on it for far more $$$ and the DRM on singles gets less painful. As regards DVD -- bah. 4-9 gigs download to really get the movie off the web with the extras and all that is just not likely in the 5 year span. IMHO HD-TV even being mandated into use by the FCC is not going to make digital formats happen any faster than the market wants anyhow.

  7. Get another Masters on Ph.Ds in IT - Good or Bad for a Career? · · Score: 1

I worked with Dept Head PhD's. As a contractor, i made more than they did... mostly by being good at what was needed, and by having a masters in engineering and management science, i was given project lead work... ( and incidental to this - i kept my position solid by crafting up slick presentations for the VP's to give at meetings and such ) A doctorate will get you into the 'club' however there are fewer vp and department heads than there are of anything else, so IMHO you can be a PhD and also be out of work for lack of the proper vacancy in any given PhD role. IMHO a dual master's is worth more.
