I heartily agree with you in general terms. However, Windows is mainstream, and it is very
difficult to live without it; and antivirus software is quite advisable for
most people.
Not using AV software, however, is not so terrible as driving without
brakes, as some would say. How long can you do that: five minutes, half an hour? Well, you can
live without AV software for years, as I have done... and I have never been
infected, and I have never infected anyone. (And there are days, these
days, when I receive about 10 copies of the Klez_H worm!)
