  1. Long times on Tour on Can You Survive Long Commutes? · · Score: 1

So I don't exactly commute long times but I do travel with a theatre show which involves a lot of touring. I am currently away from home for 14 weeks but then I do get home and have 2 months of work at home. Then I leave for another 6 weeks, home for a month, gone for a month. Manage to get Christmas at home and then away for 2 months home for a week then away for 2 more months.

My GF isn't pleased with the travel but does understand it. We both know it will have to stop when the time comes that we are ready to have kids. She is able to come and visit for a weekend here and there when I am travelling within country. But when I go to Europe for 8 weeks this just isn't feasable.

It works for us for now but it is hard. Make sure you get a good long distance phone card.

I always was having problems with Acrobat causing problems with Firefox or just not working inside at all. I uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat and have been problem free since.

  3. One Man Star Wars Parody Allowed on Lucasfilms Nixes Star Wars Live Screening · · Score: 3, Interesting

Strange that Lucasfilms won't let this theatre company perform. Charles Ross does a One Man Star Wars live theatre peformance where he takes the classic first 3 films and does all the main scenes. He condenses the 3 films down to 1 hour. Amazing to watch and incredibly funny as well. More info can be found at http://www.onemanstarwars.com/one_man_star_wars1.h tml.
Or to just see a video clip is here: http://www.onemanstarwars.com/OMSWDemo.WMV

Lucasfilms most definately knows about him as he was flown down as their guest for one of the recent conventions. He will also be performing at the big Celebration III for the new movie.

The same guy also does the One Man Lord of The Rings which is also incredible.

  4. All is well in Canada (at least Alberta) on Dump Broadband, Dig Out Your Modem! · · Score: 1

I get my DSL from TELUS here in Edmonton, Alberta and seldom have problems. I just have the el-cheapo home version for $40 canadain per month. which is probably about $25US. I get 5 email addresses, 2 static IP's, free dial-up if I ever go out of town. I've had this for 1.5 years now and have had maybe 2 days of troubled access. No complaints, speed is usually around 350-500Kbps down and around 100-150Kbps up. Sure beats my modem everyday of the week!

  5. Eating Right on Hacker's Diet · · Score: 1

I can vouch that eating right definately has a lot to do with it. I am 6'2" and out of high school I was a huge weighing in between 290 and 300lbs on any given week. I decided enough of that so I changed my eating habits slightly. The main thing I did was quit having second helpings. During a period of 12 months I shed 100lbs. For the past 6 months I have stayed more or less constant at 190 I also lost 10 inches around my waste. A pain because I had to buy all new clothes but I like what I see a lot more now. The only thing I noticed when I quit eating less is that I wasn't full. Before I always ate until I was full. I started to eat a sensible amount and then quit. Never paid attention to what I ate, just the quantity. Instead of having 2 or more steaks for supper I'd stick with one. It was hard not having the next one because I new it would taste really good. Now I occasionally do try to have seconds of an incredible meal and I can't finish it. My stomach has physically shrunk. It is easy, and I did it without any excercising besided my normal walking to the vending machines...
