    I didn't get a choice in the matter. I keep my small electronics lab going with old North American test equipment, but except for tubes and other vintage parts, everything else is from China now.

    What can I do about it?

    We could listen to AMPS cell phone calls by tuning to the high UHF channels and tuning between channels... Ahhh anyone remember the joy of pressing the outer tuning ring and going back and forth???

    Fine, but it's still not a very high power density.

    I think this offends geeks because it shows that we will have to surpass those conditions to get fusion power to work on earth unless we can build cubic kilometer buildings to get a measly gigawatt of electricity.

    I worked for them about 20 years ago in customer service. My workstation was a PC running a terminal connected to an AS/400. I had to press ESC to do certain things. If I pressed ESC twice I went to the AS/400's menu where I could send broadcast messages and reset terminals.

    They had to send someone from UPS in New Jersey as they refused to believe someone could access their holy system from a simple customer service terminal.

    The rest of the stupidity I saw at that company fit with that experience.

    It may well be, but I need lead-based 3% silver solder for the oscilloscope, and I use 60-40 for my stuff. RoHS solder doesn't flow right and looks terrible.
