    but the focus needs to be on the needs and wants of the person who has the money that you want (the customer).

    In the case of Nokia, it is Microsoft who has the money they want.

    One other point : this is one of many examples of how government funding corrupts the process of science.

    And thus a fine reason to abolish all government funding of science.

    The problem is: Corporate funding corrupts science even more. So where shall science get its funding from?

    Well, given that according to Christian believe Jesus is God, and Jesus died about 2000 years ago (he then rose from the dead, but copyright law doesn't have a provision for that), I have to conclude that at least the Bible's copyright has expired.

    On the other hand, for God 1000 years are just one day, so God's death was just about two days ago, clearly not enough for the copyright to expire ...

    Why in secret? Copyright law doesn't care about what you do in your private room with your friends. You can read them as many books as you want to, sing them songs and show videos, there's not the slightest problem with that.

    There are already independent voters' guides that summarize the arguments on both sides and provides an overview; we could just turn that into a test.

    The problem with that is that there have to be people who prepare the test and the scoring of it. And those people will generally not be without any interest. And don't think you could make such a test design completely objective.

    Why would I want my democracy's rules to be determined by the same people who've proven they don't care about the rules?

    Well, if the felons are that many that they can determine the rules, you're already so fucked up that it doesn't matter any more anyway. However, it is not a democracy if you can deny anyone the right to vote.

    What if the specific felony just shouldn't be one? Well, most probably the ones who would care about that would mostly be those who were convicted for it. But by denying them to vote, you'll take away their ability to influence that.

    What's novel about that? Isn't e.g. Slashdot's Karma system exactly that (except that it's not about going to certain locations, but about writing good comments)? And advertisers have used incentives which are even more immaterial than that (like a vague promise that you "feel good" when you use/consume a certain product).

    Actually they are Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (the latter because mixing black from the other colors tends to give suboptimal results).

    I don't think you'd like the results if the constitutional laws expired ... they would certainly put them back in "improved" form.

    Hmmm ... depending on the actual amount to pay, Google might actually like that (although it would certainly not publicly say so). While Google can afford some payment (as long as it is clearly below their revenue), the very same payment may be too high for a startup. In other words, it would keep competition away.
