Power PC's tend to be very good with floating point and not as good with everyday stuff. Thats why people complain aobut them being sluggish. The Athlon, Centrino and Hammer all seem to have good FPU and good everyday performance. P4's are at the opposite end of the spectrum and tend to be rather gutless. Bottom line, in the stuff that we do from day to day they dont seem as fast as pc's. I think the G5 should do Apple good, although I want to see them switch to the Hammer myself.
I think that it is on the contrary. I think that Microsoft wants leverage in their argument that the operating system is integral with the web browser and vice versa. It seems to be politics rather than anything else. If Apple follows them and releases their own browser (which they obviously have done/will do) Microsoft can point out the fact that Apple has done it too.
Many a scientist has been called a crackpot by the scientific community and later proven correct. The general consensus is not always right, bucko. What defines art? Until we all have the exact same definition, this argument is useless.
My uncle has something similar to this, just a few years old. He can do some pretty cool stuff, he just does a greyscale image in corel draw and sends it to the engraver. He can do batch jobs and such, hes making good side money by doing things for weddings such as mirrors with a picture of the couple cut out of the silver...etc
He got his used for less than 5000$...Quite intersting stuff
...that all of the budget cuts come out of education, law enforcement, highway improvements, etc etc but the prison systems budget has stayed the same for so long. I think the solution here is not to tax the internet but to slim the beaurocracy down a bit. California is notorious for its bloated government (believe me, I live here) and I believe it is time that notion is changed.
Long hours dont affect code quality, employees ambition affects code quality! If its late and im working on a project (personal) that i enjoy, and im way tired, i still code fine. If its something my hearts not into it then i wont be able to work. My suggestion to employers: Pay lots for overtime and reward good coding with acess to a "special fridge" filled with energy drinks and jolt!
Jpeg is a STANDARD, doesnt matter about the patents it has. It has been STANDARDIZED through the test of time, I will grow to despise the new legislature. My digital camera can take either Jpeg or TIFF (tiffs too big) so i really dont have THAT Much of a choice.
Image conversion is a pain in the ass.
