The problem here, is that it will (most likely) in the long run lead to disaster as the system crumbles. It will be interesting to see how fit they are then!
While the linux desktop is catching up with Windows, it still not there. IE & Office + various common software are still better than their corresponding linux counterparts. You might not like it, but it is the truth.
Now, server-side is a completely different story! Using the Windows desktop with a linux server (though ssh, ftp, etc) is a popular combination.
