    I'm Egyptian. I've spent my summers there since I was 6 for the last 22+ years.
    I speak Arabic fluently. I've read the Koran (amongst other religious works).
    I'm *intimately* familiar with the culture of the middle east.

    up with costs -- borrow until you have negative savings rate (last year was the
    event where on average, most americans ended up having negative savings) -- also
    an economic fact.

    Lord you are a fool -- you think I got that shit off of Newspapers & TV? those are reports published by economics departments at universities and government agencies. And I had to spend a great deal of time scanning to find them. Incidentally I read everyday for at least 2 hours on a *variety* of topics, for the last 10 years. And inflation is high dork 'cause your moneys worthless; check out how much a coffee costs or a piece of property (hello, bubble?! were you even awake for that?)

    I would suggest, prior to you preaching, you take your own advice first.
    And you don't even have to go that far - check out US history from the 1940's on.

    Just last week they released a study that indicates that the "poor" in the US today have a higher standard of living then the "poor" in the US in the early '70s

    -- which is why at minimum wage, you'ld have to work two jobs, and put your wife to work to support 1 or 2 kids. because the standard of living is higher. right.

    and all those uninsured people, they must not want insurance - its so much more fun to get cancer and try fighting it off while working that aforementioned two jobs.

    but I guess if you have those two jobs, at least you're lucky - how many people are *truly* unemployed? wait, I can't tell anymore because the administration STOPPED INCLUDING PEOPLE WHO WERE CHRONICALLY UNEMPLOYED in the unemployment report. people say, like programmers after the disasters of 2000 and 2001 (or anything else that was outsourced).

    Call me up, when *you* wake up.

    You're either severely uninformed (or a republican). Sometimes I think those two are synonomous.

    And no I'm not a democrat -- but I do think that screwing 40%-60% of your population on a regular basis is a
    *really* bad idea for the health of a country.

    And don't even get me started on the abuse of illegals, (h1-b, l1-b, or tn-1) visa or migratory workers (e.g. non-citizens)

    -it means we're poorer because we transitioned from a manufacturing economy
    to a service economy in the 80's (and now import everything).
    -and then all those jobs were outsourced in the 90's.

    and if you don't think we're poorer - don't take my word for it - when you index mean salary against inflation
    (and this is without !energy! & !food!) - you see a decrease in wage rate. And that my friend, is an economic *fact*.

    and incidentally a 5.5% raise, means 5.5% of *fiat* money. it means I have 5.5% more paper in my pocket - how much
    paper is out in the market (or in this case ledger entries) {which have *nothing* to do with import/export), is the
    real question -- and I'ld be willing to bet that more effective money has been introduced in the market through
    shoddy loans, then that 5.5% increase pay indicates should exist.

    Lastly, it was raised, 5.5% since what? 2006? come on now. compare it 2000 or 99 and then I might be impressed.
    And give me a total number of people employed so I can judge relative wealth (e.g. area underneath the histogram)

    And btw, there was a ton of invention that happened prior to the copyright systems; you should pick up a history book sometime. You know, that funny thing where people figured out tons of shit because they needed to? And incidentally, the US broke britains patents when they had their copyright system in place; both copyright and patents. pull your head out of your arse and do a little reading, will you?

    How does "let the buyer beware" have anything to do with free speech?

    Slander and libel is an attempt to compensate someone for damage to their reputation; caveat emptor indicates
    the buyer should do his own research into what he is buying, and presumeably (in a "service" economy),
    who he is doing business with.

    The *minute* you start to enforce a restriction on information in any way,
    is the minute you start to limit free speech. Copyright is a restriction
    on free speech, as is censorship. Don't agree? Witness the recent uprising
    about a *number* being transmitted *AND SHUT UP*. I value my free speech
    far more than I value my right to get paid. Isn't after all, caveat emptor?

    #1 - binary search
    #2 - merge sort/quick sort
    #3 - a binary/heap sort (for insertation) with a travesal to spit back the results as needed
    (assuming the data is meant to be processed as it is sent and queryable in sorted order at any point).

    they just turned classic search algorithms (and hence search problems) into word problems.

    ....when is esperanto going to use asian, hindu, arabic or cyrillic lettering?
    substituting a mangled romance language for english doesn't make it any more accessible. Not to mention maybe all those different approaches to communication actually contribute something to the creativity in constructing well-thought out experiments to properly phrased hypothesis...like how Asian languages predispose their speakers to character/pattern recognition, and German lends itself to compounding ideas, or English lends itself to forming new ones by verbing (--- see I just made that up by converting a noun into a verb!) I for one welcome diversity. How about getting people off their asses (coughs Americans) and getting them to learn to speak another language besides American; damn know that I think about it, get them to learn English first ;)

    - Be selective in your reading
    (a 100 crappy books will not do u any good; 5-6 good books will)
    - Learn (APPLY!) your lessons slowly/carefully;
    - Build progressively better websites/apps.

    No; a manufacturer who places no value on any sort of IT expense (family business, in case u're curious as to why I'm working there). Prior to that I worked as a systems programmer, both salaried and contract for a number of years.

    Put another way; how many people here have worked for managers who spent gobs of money paying people to do things for them they weren't even qualified to spec out? How many of those projects end up being a bust because they weren't designed by somebody who _wasn't_ knowledgeable about the technologies involved?

    Designing a website is not rocket science; particularly given the 18 million choices of platforms, packages, components available now. If he/she can't design a website thats decent, what are they doing in that position?
