All the major telecommunications manufacturers have _backdoors_ into their systems. Avaya, Nortel, Lucent (ok... Avaya again). Point is, they all have them in there to provide technical support. For instance, with Avaya their tech calls Denver, enters your Sold To number, and voila, he logs onto your PBX. The passwords provided are dependent on time of day so if you try and use it later you can't get on. Lucent has factory passcodes for their old ClearTrac series of routers. Nortel has them too but I am not familiar with their process of obtaining their maintenance passcode. I consider this no big deal... *yawn
*nod... the body definately had appeal. There was something about it that jumped out at you.... maybe it was because their wasn't an edge to be found in the body, everything was smoothed or rounded... it was very nice. And yes, the the small industry devoted to placing V8's in those babies... motor mounts, tranny mounts, custom 3 core radiators, the works. And don't forget the magazines devoted to showing you how to do it. Those were the days yintercept...:-)
>Vegas had one of the best car body styles of the 70s. They had one of the worst engines ever. There was a whole industry devoted to yanking engines from the beasts. The Pinto was a bad design all around, but the Vega shell was a great starting place for people who enjoyed building their own car.
Hey, how can you knock the Vega??? Now here is a car that once you dropped a 350ci motor into it the freaking thing wouldn't quit! Yea it would break rear axles every week if you kept putting your foot down, but what a fun car to drive! Junkyards had parts for these things like you would believe... the yard I frequented had a seperate section just for them. We had a blast putting these things together for the dragstrip. Used stopsign channel for the subframes, and once we found out you could put a Monza (remember the Monza??) rear end into the thing (much stronger than the stock Vega rearend) then all bets were off, it was "foot to the pedal time" ALL the time! Sure my fingers were greasy all summer and I spent more time under the hood/under the car than I did driving/racing it, but WOW, what a summer that was! Wish I still had one...
>When the second or the third such meeting rolls around, and it looks like things are getting attention and respect, *then* I'd feel better about speaking up.
..but until then remember this, you have ears, but 1 mouth, listen twice as much as you speak...:-)
Sounds to me like upper management (UM) is going on a fishing expidition. Something might be *wrong if your company is holding a department party after the holidays. Perhaps UM has been asked to do more with less and they're looking for heads to lop, or maybe they are just looking for new ideas.... Unless you're a director/manager you have nothing to worry about as long as you "keep it close to the vest". Your boss/his boss are *definately more worried about this party than you. If you have a *good boss then be sure to hang out with him for a bit, just remember that he is more worried about this party than you are. If you have a backstabber for a boss, make small talk with him briefly, but only briefly. Indroduce your date, be cordial, then head off and be with your chums/buddies/pals/mates. But, by all means attend... and enjoy, but please be careful....:-)
Impossible Mission for the C64 was the 1st game that "hooked" me. I can remember back in 1987 when we had a Commodore 64 in our lunchroom at work. We used to play during breaks and lunchtime. I used to stay after work for hours trying to get to the end of that game. It took about a month, but I finally managed to make it to the end. I can still remember the evil professor and the end saying "No.... no..... noooooooooo......."
Hey, maybe this guy is the same person that emailed me this little nugget a few months ago......:-)
Hello,
If you are a reliable supplier of the below equipment I am going to need the following:
1. A mind warper generation 4 Dimensional Warp Generator # 52 4350a series wrist watch with memory adapter.
2. The special 23200 series time transducing capacitor with built in temporal displacement.
While these time pieces normally go between $5,000-$7,000 a piece, I am having a hard time finding a reliable supplier.
Teleport to me within the next 48 earth hours and I will pay $40,000 2002 US cash.
Please only reply if you are reliable. Send a (SEPARATE) email to me at: Tomnwrr@aol.com

Say for example I am a user on a public machine that I suspect has keystroke monitoring software. What can I do, load onto it, download, to protect myself and detect and/or remove these things? One can always go to site to check a machine for viruses and such, but what can be done/loaded to protect against keystroke monitoring?

Sounds like the way we go about electing our President every 4 years here in the US......
Yes, Buffalo used to be so *huge*... the streets and roads are so overbuilt... there are hardly ever any traffic jams in Buffalo for the morning or afternoon commute (unless u life in a suburb of Buffalo, the jams are uaually outside city limits)... anyways.. yes, some of us who live here believe it is a 100 year curse brought on by the assaination of McKinley during the PanAm Expo that has caused our downfall. But who believes in those things anyways... well, time to check my horoscope.... *grin*
Yes, summers in Buffalo are very nice.... the lake being right *there* is so nice... i could not imaging living in a place where there is no water.. i really cannot.........
The smell..... there really is no smell.. well there used to be when Bethlehem Steel was in operation in Lackawanna (a southern suburb of Buffalo), but that stopped in the early 80's... there is one other place near Buffalo that smells... just beyond North Buffalo along the river in Tonawanda by the oil refineries... there was a time when it didn't stink there.. it was back when Carter was President.... then, 1 day the wife and I were driving home from Grand Island into Buffalo and *whew*... the stink was back... then I remembered what happened that night... Ronald Reagan was inagurated(sp)....
