  1. Judge you by your HS self on Harvard Pres Says Females Naturally Bad at Math · · Score: 1

I would just like to point out that the basis of his argument relies on two things: 1. That some of these jobs require up to 80 hour workweeks 2. Summers cited research showing that more high school boys than girls tend to score at very high and very low levels on standardized math tests, and that it was important to consider the possibility that such differences may stem from biological differences between the sexes. That's it, they're basing it on how long people polled want to work, and scores from High School tests. Judging from how most people are in high school, the difference of where their interests lie and what they actually end up doing is vastly different. Such a huge argument is presented here by the Harvard Chief with a scanty "Well, kids in high school are like this" and "my wife doesn't like to work 80 hours a week" is near preposterous. It should be an interesting study and I hope they go through with it, but all in all, I would hope an entire gender's abilities aren't called into question because some high schoolers don't exceed at standardized tests.

Pardon me, Slime-dogg, I was not listing ALL of the female Chess champs in the last few years. Those were just two off the top of my head. I'm sure if you would care to research a little on this lovely thing called "THE INTERNET" that we have, it would easily come to light that those were FAR from the ONLY females that rank.

Therefore, there is no "evidence" speaking for itself. The original quote asked if someone could name a female chessmaster, which I have done. It did not ask for someone to name all of the female chessmasters ever.

    Your theory is unfounded also.

The thing that seems off about your post is how you're confusing videogames with sports. The physical differences (such as lower center of gravity, muscle-length / breadth, and etc.) that tend to delineate the female and male classes in sports don't really apply to videogames. PS: Chess grandmaster Anjelina Belakovskaia 1995, in case you were wondering. More recently, Alexandra Kosteniuk was ranked #29 over all in U.S. Chess on December 2003 (http://www.uschess.org/ratings/top/dec03/OverallL ist.php) which is ranked regardless of gender or age. She's only 20. PPS: I regularly manage to kick people's asses in videogames, regardless of their gender. It's probably my lower center of gravity helping me.

Also, i wonder exactly the stipulations of the statistics: do they include regular internet users or do they accept anyone who has been on the internet ever? There is a much larger number of internet cafes in less urban areas in Europe than in America and this may factor in.
