  1. AppleScript = Slow on Apple Previews New Script Editor · · Score: 1

AppleScript is very slow when it comes to processing massive amounts of data. But it's the only language for playing TradeWars, a telnet game that was originally a dialup BBS door game, with a macintosh client, TWScripter 3. I've written a 93 page (118,388 characters) AppleScript bot for playing TradeWars (not publically available yet-- the help documentation would probably be longer than the code itself). But I still think AppleScript is too slow.

  2. Doesn't anyone realize... on Company Christmas Gifts / Bonuses? · · Score: 1

... if every single worker in every single IT department went on strike, then almost all business everywhere would grind to a screeching halt as servers fail, networks go down, and copy machines run out of toner.

We know who's really in control of this modern corporate empire now don't we?

Do People Really Use Their PDAs?

Yup. Downloaded internet sites (Slashdot, Cnet.com) via AvantGo, eBooks with Documents To Go, word processing with keyboard attachment and Documents To Go, a graphing calculator substitute (Easy Calc), assignment tracking (To Do List), and the occasional game of Mine Hunt.

  4. Monopoly! on Microsoft Profit and Loss by Business Area · · Score: 5, Insightful

Microsoft could sell it for $45 and still make a profit. Sure they could. Just like the RIAA could sell CDs for $5.95 and still make a profit. These guys make me sick!

  5. Cell phones suck on Embedding Data Signals In White Noise · · Score: 1

The instant a cell phone becomes nothing more than an intrusive marketing tool I will crush it under my boots and never use it again! The instant someone wants to put a GPS tracking chip in my phone, I'll tell them to take their government spy tech and crap it up their... Well, you get the idea.

  7. BBSs in today's world on The BBS Documentary: A One Year Report · · Score: 1

There are lots of BBSs on today's internet in the form of telnet systems. To this day I still play TradeWars on quite a few of them. The BBS movement is alive and kicking, it's just taken a new form.
