    Thats my point, sort of.

    And there are bugs and exploits. Probably many that havent been found because noones looking too hard for 'em. The samba root exploit that existed, well forever, comes to mind.

    And people can chatter about how quickly the holes are patched, it doesnt mean the users update their boxes. They dont click the windows update icon, they wont open a shell and type apt-get either.

    Thus, I'm plugging it in and leaving it next to the computer with the idea of burning programs to CD to listen at the car later.

    You do realize you could have just bought a tuner card for much cheaper. Hell, I saw a mouse with a built in FM tuner the other day.

    Much better would be getting a halfway decent *real* tuner, that you can connect to a *real* antenna for *real* reception, and record off the line out. You'd get much better audio this way. And stereo to boot.

    A cron/scheduler job would be all thats needed for its super advanced timer functions.

    Why dont you just stick a tuner card into a cheap PC? You can build a P2 266 rig that fits the bill more than adequately for about 50 bucks.

    Or get a good reciever and record off its line out jack.

    It's more like a minidisc, being digital.

    But since it records in mp3, and they bill it as "tivo for radio", slashbots just lap it up.

    See how marketing works? If they had called it a "digital recorder", ho hum. But call it "tivo for radio!" and they sell like hotcakes to dopes like the reviewer.

    Check out the ebay auction another posted. The biddings already at like 120 bucks and theres days left! Someone will wind up paying 300 bucks for a walkman with a record button.

    It depends on the course.

    Calculus - yeah, read the book, do the assignments, complete the exam. Hooray, you know calculus - you pass.

    Literature - much more subjective, requires more work on the part of the professor/TAs.

    It's important to note that many professors "skate" in real life university as well. They give the lectures, and the TAs do all the actual work. Some make themselves available between classes, some dont.

    Quit whining.

    Why doesnt anyone speak up when the apps are available for public review?

    It's TOO FUCKING LATE to wait until slashdot posts about the patent being granted. You can cry and whine about prior art and whatnot till the cows come home from fucking your mom, and it aint going to do a lick of good.

    If you want to fix the patent process, get involved. Find out about pending patents and work to invalidate them.

    Either that or all you linux hippies are jealous that MSFT thought of it first, while you still cant get the TV out feature on your video cards to work.

    Good news! You're getting one, the successor to Windows XP will sport WinFS, a brand spanking new filesystem based on SQL Server's engine.

    Now, of course linux trolls will whine and whatnot, but SQL Server is a killer DMBS, and this filesystem will be cool. Imagine how fast apps will start when they dont have to scour a half dozen directories for .dll files, but instead "SELECT location FROM files WHERE filename = 'msvcrt.dll' AND version = '7.8.29'"

    I've had a kyoccera 7135 for about a week now, it has built in PalmOS 4.1, Dragonball 33 mhz, 16 megs.. SD/MMC slot, plays mp3s, sends faxes, 3G wireless, all that shit..

    Perhaps, of course, that this headline is three weeks late. Quite possible. All i know is this is one cool ass phone.

    I been playing pac man on it since I got it.

    Why pay a dollar?

    Why not just sign a form/application? If all it means is an acknowledgement that the author still wants the protection, why get into the fee stuff?

    The government getting into the business of charging for copyrights is a bad idea. Once the precedent is set, the "limited" fee will climb just like the "limited" copyright terms did.

    Then we'll have a copyright sytem that only protects monied interests, be they corporations or whoever.
