Rule 3: If you need it to play games, it's a necessary evil. X-Box purchases can be justified by asserting that they cost Microsoft money, and one is therefore attacking "Micro$haft" by buying one.
I've been using 2 19" monitors on a Matrox G450 for ages now without a hitch. I code an aweful lot and tend to have loads of terminals open and quite often references in the form of a web page or PDF (should that be xdoc now?) files.
1) Aqua has proved to be a great marketing tool. As much as I hate to admit it it is good looking.
2) The APIs may be closed for a reason. They could quite easily change at any time due to extra features that apple themselves add. Imagine the outcry when Apple break a ton of third party apps because they fixed a bug in the menu system that involved changing the API.
...thank fucking hell. Im in the process of developing a console based Ogg Vorbis player. There wasn't a sniff I was going to add mp* supprt. This has confirmed it.
The other day I was looking at a case mod site (probably linked from/.) and noticed that none of the cases has floppy drives. I wondered how they might have managed but thinking about it I don't really use mine anymore. If I screw up Lilo or anything I just boot from my Slackware cd-rom (my drive isn't SCSI.)
I think I could genuinly do without it. Its a shame zip disks didn't take off like floppys though.

;)
Just make sure you don't buy any games!
Will I have to call it GNU/Japan?
Will I have to call it GNU/Zaurus?
This rocks! Now I can play those Harry Potter 2 trailers for my girlfriend.

I really couldn't live without it now!
Is it just me or is there a "as long as I don't have to call it GNU/ I'll be happy" post these days?
