    And this is why we all think the Air Force are pussies.

    The Army sleeps in the sand and the snow and the mud and the muck.

    The Marines charge the beach and die to gain a few feet of sand. (and bully for them, I love my jarhead cousins)

    The Navy goes out to see in coffin-sized bunks for months on end of 3-4 hours of sleep a night.

    And the Air Force sits at home in their nice comfy bases.

    And for some of us who are diving into wormholes with a passion it's absolutely outstanding. I know I'm currently building up a small alliance or corporations to go in and build a colony.

    It's re-invigorated my game to be sure.

    Bear in mind that in EVE almost everything that isn't a player is robotic.

    Ships don't have crew, at least not the sort of ships player's fly. POS's (Player Owned Stations) are not staffed or crewed, they just operate.

    People in EVE are largely confined to planets and NPC stations. The odd exception being cargo that you can haul that consists of people, like slaves or exotic dancers.

    So this isn't someone convincing a bureaucracy to defect, as you assert. This is someone getting the control codes to Skynet and telling it wipe out humanity.

    I've seen people breathe so much air that they ended up addicted to heroin. In fact I've never met a heroin addict who didn't breathe air first.

    Don't underestimate the effects of the recent industrial patch on those wild market swings. The prices for base minerals are going crazy, look at the price of Trit if you don't believe it.

    As for market manipulation . . . Yay! I'm glad some folks are taking other folks ISK over this. Markets have always been PvP and folks who don't realize this DESERVE to lose their money.

    And a damn fun game it was as well.

    That said I found it incredibly difficult. Some of the scenarios I had to play like 5 times to get through.

    But for a Battletech fan that game just rocked.

    If it doesn't play Civ IV then I can't get rid of my windows box at home.

    Historically WINE hasn't done so great with the games I care about. Since I only like Windows for gaming that's what I really need for WINE to do before it becomes useful to me pesonally.

    Oh sure, I admit running Office 2007 is going to be a god-send for transiting my users away from Windows. But for me, non-professionally, it really boils down to one question.

    Does it play Civ IV now?

    Did you ever serve in the military, or are you making assumptions you shouldn't?

    I've served in two branches myself. I've been through both Army and Navy training, and given years of my life to each service. I can assure you we were trained about illegal orders. We were trained to recognize what an illegal order was and what to do about it in Basic Training. First two weeks of Basic no less.

    (and FYI, what you do about an illegal order is not obey it. and if you do, you are taught you can expect prosecution and jail time.)

    I think Nuremberg set the standard for how "I was just following orders" stands as a defense in court.

    The galaxy is extremely YOUNG, not old.

    One of my wife's old friends had what I consider the best solution, fun and annoying to the telemarketer.

    He kept a long list of cheeses near the phone. When he got a sales call he'd grab the list and wait until the marketer stopped to take a breath. Then he'd ask, "Do you like Gouda?"

    At this point the sales-droid would usually say something like, "Umm, sure, but let me tell you more about blah.foo". The next breath he'd go down to the next cheese on the list, "Do you like Cheddar?" Marketron, "Cheddar? Huh? Uh, yes, but please let's talk about stupidproduct.com".

    "Do you like Edam?"

    "Damn it are you just going to ask me if I like cheeses?"

    "Do you like Brie?"

    *click*

    Very fun, at least for a few times. It does eventually get a bit old. But it does beat getting annoyed.

    All I know is Greenpeace is a terrorist organization.

    I "know" this because back in the day when I was in the US Navy they blew some other people's ships up and I had to stand watch watching a Greenpeace ship in the port we had pulled into to be sure they didn't send any small craft near our ship.

    Is it possible I was misinformed by a government hostile to Greenpeace? Is it possible they've changed, assuming I wasn't misinformed? Sure, anything's possible. But I'd rather focus my charity dollars on groups I don't have moral doubts about.

    They are right in such crucial ways that all the terribleness they bring is overcome by the survival capacities they bring with that terribleness. I'm not so sure about this. The one additional happiness a city gets for having a state-religion is important in early history, and the additional happiness from building a temple after you research Priesthood isn't bad either.

    But I've seen plenty of excellent strategies for making a Civilization (IV) great that don't involve religion at all that I'm just not convinced it's always worth it. Is a religious strategy really better than axe-rushing your neighbor?

    Who can say?

    The "Kessel Run" could be a timed race. Similar to a 0-60 measure. Everybody who does a Kessel Run drives for say, 10 minutes. The further you've gone in that time, the faster the ship you have :). Little bit of a stretch, but not much. Except that he makes the run in UNDER 12 parsecs. So even if it was a timed-run Solo would be bragging about how slow his ship was. I'm not sure there was ever an explanation of this line that has really satisfied me.

    I suggest we all disregard it as a simple error and move on, it's what I try to do.

    In addition, once this road is crossed -- impeaching for , and every time the president/vp is in office, and a different party has a majority in the senate and house, you'll see an impeachment. Road already crossed thanks. As with most partisan political things in this day and age the Republicans got there first, with the most.

    Personally I'd rather impeach over 'high crimes and misdemeanors' than blowjobs. But hey, I'm only fiscally conservative, all those socially conservative memes went to my born-again brother.

    Any reason we couldn't deal with this in such a simple manner as blocking port 70 at the router?

    Obviously it doesn't solve it for everyone, and does nothing about the hole itself, but blocking 70 should solve the issue for all clients inside the router. Right?
