A man making 70K is not middle class, go look at median income sometime. It is about half of that for people 18 and over. Family of 4 median income (assuming both parents work is about $42K)
aahh, the joys of stagnating wages

Why do they need help?
It isn't the customer's job to keep a company in business. It is the company's job to keep themselves in business. If the computer "for the rest of us" is too expensive for "the rest of us" to purchase, Apple gets what they deserve.
By the way what is Apple's retained earnings? Go read their financial statements sometime. They are interesting reading, if you know what it is you are looking at. Jobs & co. are skinning apple users on a regular basis.
I wouldn't agree with that. Look at what was around then.
Granted, the default colors were not what I would have chosen, but there were sound reasons behind them.
The original colors for OS/2 Ver 2 (The first version with the Workplace shell) were chosen because they were easily viewable by people who were color-blind.
It's amazing what you can learn when you talk to some of the folks that were on the design team.
This will NEVER happen. Too much code is owned by other people.
If I could get the workplace shell on linux, I would move. Untill then, OS/2 stays on my system.
I do.
I am not leaving OS/2 until I get something like the workplace shell on another operating system. I am _way_ to used to it. I like having a OOUI (Object Oriented User Interface) & I'm not giving it up. It works the way I do.
Metallica sold out, that is what happened. Bear with me on this. If you go and read early interviews with the band (i.e. before Ride the Lighting, yes I'm an old fart.) They always talked about how they made mix tapes of bands that they enjoyed & shared with their friends. They used this method to clue in friends and fans about bands they thought were important (Diamond Head and others). Of course, none of those artists every saw any of Hetfield or Ulrich's money.
Needless, to say I don't buy or listen to any of their music anymore.
