the article says "The advice is to avoid this latest hole is always save files to a folder and then look at them. On your hard drive, the file's true nature is revealed. But this advice is nearly as practical as Microsoft telling users not to click on links to avoid being caught out by the previous spoof problem."
I know that some of my clients, who are larger organizations with an IT Admin Staff, prevent employees from saving files to their computer from the internet. However, you can open the file from location and view it.
If this did become a major problem and users started accessing infected files like crazy, organizations, such as the ones I mentioned, would be subject to a launch of the virus/worm immediately.
How about more money for education of our pre-k through 12 graders (inner city as well as county schools) and less on defense. Now there's an idea. Other countries dont worry as much about spending on their defense because if they need help, guess who they will call... yup, the good old US of A, so they just dump money into education.
Never bet on a three legged horse.
I like having to freedom to do whatever I want to do with Linux. Being able to modify the source is a huge advantage to me over windows. But if you like to be spoon fed then I guess windows is the way to go.
Everytime I have used mapquest in the past, I always get these longwinded directions. And then when I finally reach my destination, I figure out that I could have cut my time in half by going a more simpler, obvious way. I use M$ map point. Its local on my system, I dont have to connect to the internet to use it AND and can figure out, ahead of time, which way is the best way to go.
Even if this is a rumor, how is macromedia doing so bad on the books. They put out great products which are used in almost every kind of technology development - from e-training, to internet games to.net to java - they do an good job of covering a lot. I hope this is not true because this could kill the market that remain for us small vendors.
Someone had to say it! I was begining to believe that I was the only person in the world who does not officially own a cell phone. I say officially because my boss bought one and made me use it so he could keep up with me when I was on the road alot. But personally, I dont want a cell phone and I am continously bothered by these self important people who feel the need to call and be called when I am trying to enjoy a peaceful evening reading a book at borders while having a cup of coffee. Do they not realize that I dont care about thier conversation! No one does. Sorry to go off on a tangent here, just letting off some steam. There are so many other things about cell phones that annoy me but I won't bore you all to death with them.
