Of course, but you missed the point of my initial post. I have _zero_ problem with sending probes to the moon, I am after all pro-technology in almost all its forms. But I do have a problem with the US deliberately polluting (radiation, biological 'tests' as stated in the article) the moon without sanction from the rest of the world.
The USA is what, 5 or 10 percent of the world population, yet they feel they can perform hazardous tests on our moon and screw it up, just because they happen to be the first country to have the excess capital to do so?
Research involving radiation or dangerous biological agents could be done on the moon with little danger of releases to Earth's environment.
Now that the USA is reaching the limits of consuming, polluting and destroying our planet, it's time to start wrecking the moon? The attitude of your average US citizen just constantly astounds me. Why can't they think beyond the next stockholders meeting?
