The only people who can actually help you or give you discounts or anything are the guys who have to talk you out of ditching Comcast.
There is another option. You know that part of the call where they say "This call may be recorded to insure quality." That is not just a disclaimer, but it is also permission. Start your conversation with "I am taking advantage of your offer to record the call for quality and I am recording this call." They actually have a specific policy for this and it is very nice.:) It is essentially, "Make us look good if we are being recorded."
They did try to charge me for not returning it when I disconnected service, but corrected their error without a hassle.
That is normal. They also often charge for equipment returned to a storefront. Now I only use purchased hardware with them. (For both myself and my clients.) When they ask why I say "Because I do not trust you." It is usually followed by a few seconds of silence, and then "OK.":)
The internet is one of the best things humanity has ever done. The ability to carry it around in my hand is worth the tiny little chunk of my soul that Verizon gets each month.
Oh I have a tablet on Satan^HVerizon. So I carry around a bigger Internet than you!:p
Well, battery life is much better for me. Also I seem to get reception when no one else (even with the same carrier) does, it is smaller in my pocket, and I do not have to pay for a data plan I do not need.
A lot of people said that to me over the past few years. But this year a few of them have come back to me asking about what is available in the non-smart phone category, and how to work around some things... Seems that some people are finding them to be more of a distraction then a help.
I have had several clients go partway though the install of the new office versions with the Microsoft account required, and get very frustrated. Then ask to see Libre Office again. And then give up on MS Office. If these new policies will switch someone to open source AFTER THEY HAVE ALREADY PAID, it is a very bad sign for MS.
>you can buy into a support scheme the day you encounter a problem
Have you ever even held a real job? Apparently not. By the time the contracts have been reviewed by lawyers and the purchase order processed and paid out, days or even weeks will have gone by. Do days or weeks of downtime sound like an acceptable situation to you?
Have you? If this is your plan, you already have the a-la-carte support agreement approved by the lawyers, and a few support incidents in your budget. Then you just call and pay, and get support right now.
Of course, that takes prior planning, something that is actually rare in a lot of IT departments.
Not to mention that stabbing yourself in the eye with a pencil will probably be less painful and result in more real security. And at least the eye-pencil is likely to make it to completion.
Until you have a multi user thread, that few people hop out of to talk privately, and then come back in... (Like a thread with client and clients boss, and me and my boss. Then my boss and I reply to only each other to discuss a point, and then after a few back and forths, add client and client boss back in.) Oh lord do things get ugly from that point...
I was actually saying the "importance" algorithms are probably more to to with advertising than what I want to see. And the threading already hides stuff at random, so I have no trust.
As if the gmail auto threading wasn't bad enough at hiding things from you, now they will filter and what is important? (For advertising...) Why is it that every new upgrade seems like a kick to the groin lately?
Yes, anyone is welcome to risk their own lives, but when they are manuevering a ton of steel and batteries held together by duct tape and prayers at high speeds on public roads the danger is increased for everyone else too.
But only a small amount of increase. Cell Phones, tablets, complex stereos, and in car "systems" cause many more wrecks then a handful of electric cars.
Power for the modem, and power for the AC to dissapate the heat.

If you're not using their wireless, just put the router in a metal box.
Still uses power, and not an insignificant ammount.
Google is surprisingly helpfull.

Isn't that exactly how cell phones are rented?
Fixed that for you...
And that is why I do NOT have a smart phone.
The web config on a Cisco switch...

And Steve Jobs must be giggling in his grave!
What is this box? I was hitting the "Like" button...
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=steam+box
That was hard...
But if you actually read your license and EULA, it won't do any good.
It does when you are talking to your boss. "We bought support, but even they can't figure it out."
NACK... You never want solution by comity.
The fact that "Support != Solution" is a painfull lesson for many.

Sometimes I'm just reading the menu. Tracking what I look at or how long I'm looking at it isn't representative of my decision making process.
"Why does it always want to give me oniones? I HATE ONIONS!"
Yeah, I can see that being an issue.

The problem being that that "Y" shares the road with you.
And I would say their cell phone is much more of a risk to me than whatever crappy maintenance they have done or not done.
