The quality of instructor led geek education is seriously lacking. I'm sure everyone has heard the phrase, "Those who can do, those who can't teach." As a general rule the above statement is true.
Another interesting comparison would be the salary of a technical Instructor vs. that of a profession software engineer. Let's take J2EE for example. Here is a job for a J2EE or.NET instructor.

The salary is between 28,000.00 - 30,000.00! I would like to think that an educated instructor would make at least a third of what he could be making as a consultant in his field of expertise. That is just ridiculous.
