No, TiVo does not automatically edit out commercials by sensing black frames, or by any other method. It has three speeds of fast forward and an undocumented 30 second skip button.

Yes, but what happens if you want write those few lines in next year's calendar, and the year after that? Do you buy ten years worth of notebooks at a time? I love not spending time transferring birthdays, etc. to my daytimer every January.

StarTalk is a little command line utility that lets you transfer phone contacts in a text file format between a computer and a StarTac phone using the serial data cable. I think that the StarTac and the TimePort use the same serial interface. It's very beta, but it looks like it could be the basis for someone to write a free truesync-like program.
