Elisabeth Granneman pissing in bed (Ewwwww!) was really the high (or low) -point in this incredably boring movie. Stay clear of this one and anything else starring or directed by Vibeke Løkkeberg or her husband Terje Kristiansen. For the love of God - Take my advice. Really... I mean it.

As far as I can tell, while SkypeOut allows you to make make outgoing calls to landline phones, there's no Skype service that allows you to receive incoming calls from landline phones. If that's true, then Vonage is a better landline replacement.

That feature (SkypeIN) is on its way. By the way; Vonage seems to only accept US-customers. That disqualifies their service for me. ;)

Calls Skype to Skype are free. SkypeOUT (Skype to POTS) and eventually SkypeIN (POTS to Skype) has a charge - But it's cheap! Get an account, throw some euros at it and give it a try. I love it and use it every day.

Macromedia has issued a press release denying the patent infringement claims:

MACROMEDIA DENIES ADOBE PATENT INFRINGEMENT CLAIMS

San Francisco, California--August 10, 2000--Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) announced today that it categorically denies the claims made in a lawsuit filed earlier this afternoon by Adobe Systems Inc. The claim alleges patent infringement relating to user interface features of Macromedia products.

Macromedia believes the claims made in the Adobe lawsuit are without merit. The company believes that U.S. Patent No. 5,546,528 is invalid and unenforceable and that Macromedia does not violate the patent. Macromedia advised Adobe of this belief when first contacted by them in 1996, and readvised them when they last contacted Macromedia in May, 1999.

Talking about patents... EU is about to pass laws making software patents possible in Europe. Check out eurolinux.org's petition to warn European authorities against software patents.

The program needs a 300M datafile. I ftp that over, unzip it, and run the program. The computer thrashes. There is no "renice" command to lower the priority of the backgrounded program to, say, something low enough that I could type a letter and have it appear on the screen less than a minute later.

What you can use is start /low <program> to start a program on low priority or use the task manager to set the priority of a process already running (If the machine responds, that is... ;)

Other things I have done today:
    - Try to find line of source code somewhere in a project using both C and Java. With Linux this would look something like: grep "line of text" *.java *.c *.h With Windows I open the "find" program, and click and click and click and click until I find the right directory (the one I would be IN if I had a command line). There is no way to specify both C files and Java files, so I must search all files under directory, including the 300M text file. Which I know better than to try. Instead must do separate searches for *.c, *.c++, *.h. *.java files. Many many clicks. My wrist hurts.

Ah.. Use semicolon. Try searching for *.jpg;*.mp3...

On Windows: Spend half an hour clicking through my Outlook Express folders looking for it. Click through every single folder, searching by username (nice feature, I admit)

Hm. I dunno about Outlook Express, but Outlook has an advanced search. You can try <ctrl-shift-f>, but I doubt it's implemented in Express...
