I am a lighting product engineer for GE, and our new 'RealLight'(tm) bulbs are very good for this type of lighting. Also, you'd be patronizing a fellow/.er:-))
Why not just use a TV tuner in a PC? With this setup, you have to turn on the PC and the PS2 to record any television. PVR's are meant to record on the spur of the moment, not waiting 60 seconds when Micro$oft Winblows starts up.
4 years from now a bunch of grads will be heading to interviews...
Grad: "I know C#! Hire me!" Industry: "C#. Check. What else do you know?" Grad: "Huh? Like what?" Industry: "Well, what did you learn in some of your other courses? Grad: "I know how to design a web page so that it only works under Internet Explorer." Industry: "Hmm..okaaaay. What type of degree did you say you have again?" Grad: "I have a copy right here..." Industry: "That says MCSE. That's not a diploma." Grad: "No, it is. There's some fine print at the bottom. See?"
The paper talks about a n-dimensional space, but only looks at the 3-dimensional case. It is totaly possible that the picture looks different at other dimensions (even at two), and spoofing works better when you use that as a basis. Which of course doesn't make the others more secure should they have better results at other dimensions - the worst case is still the worst case.
There are way too many 'common sense' articles posted on Slashdot. Why do we need apple to tell us that we should only use one menu bar in Mac apps? Half of their 'tips' are suggestions such as hiring a company that pays Apple a commission to recommend them, or saying to conform to what Apple wants your app to look like. Big fucking deal. Any Mac developer worth his salt should know this stuff anyway. My only hope is that somehow all the/. geeks can somehow slashdot Apple. Then all the Apple sysadmins have to stop smoking the 'peace pipe' and put the web site back up.
I'm glad the so-called network 'experts' have realized they not only need to keep their systems digitally secure, but also physically secure. Either sysops are dumb, or this is just a stupid submission slashdot put up because they needed an article.
I don't understand why people ever think this type of operating system would ever be useful. The time you invest into "finding the IP address of your primary name server" and figuring out what "fstab, hostname.fxp0, hosts, myname, mygate, resolv.conf, sysctl.conf" mean will negate any postive effect this has on your development time/bank account. The only reason anyone would want to install an operating system like BSD or Linux would be to increase their geekness factor, and that can be easily accomplished by not showering for a week.
BMG, and the rest of RIAA, can sell something that no file-sharing app can get you. Legallity and legitimacy.
There is a price-point where people will pay to have a legal right to the song that's allready illegally on their computer. If BMG can figure out the right price point, they can make a profit selling nothing but legitimacy.
Personally, I'd give them my legal name, home address, and give them permission to track me until the day I die IF I can get a full legal title to the music I buy. I want to be able to get a "replacement media" discount on a new copy of my destroyed CD. I want to be able to download lossless song files to burn me a custom album, and have it be 100% legit.
I won't pay $50 a month to do this. I would pay $5 a year. Somewhere in between those two, I would have to reserve judgement until the offer's been made.
If BMG can provide what I want, I will buy from them.

At Celebration, Florida. That's the perfect town that Disney created. My neighborhood is just starting to do this, thanks to me:). It really does increase resale value in the suburbs, though, as the computer programmers working in the city move out to research labs and cushier jobs in the suburbs, they want their broadband. The initiative in my neighborhood is expected to increase housing values five percents (about $10,000!). We also expect the neighborhood to gain reputation as a home for high-rolling techies, which should increase values further. A very big gain in money for small investment. I highly recommend it.

But why wouldn't you just build a Windows computer? Macs are not meant to be built for scratch, that's why you need a guide.
