let them know you must be paid or you will sue set a date 1 week out just to be reasonable.
then go file the lawsuit, it doesn't cost much for you to file it(maybe less that $100) and it may cost LOTS for them to make the lawsuit go away. Given the highly technical nature of your work, it would take an expert lots of time to review your code and give an expert testimony, hell if you get into the nity gritty details, you may keep them in court for 5 weeks (all the while they're paying an attorney and some other employees to be there, and that other Unix-consultant who had to review your code) If they hired you as a contractor to handle this area of expertise, they likely don't have anyone in house that could be considered a valid witness and thus they'd have to pay someone else (as much as they owed you) to come in on thier behalf.
Explain the above to them and you'll get your money. It may help to go get the form/papers for filing the lawsuit ahead of time and have it in front of you on the table, so they can see you're not bluffing.
A smart venture capitalist will check to see if anyone is presently suing the company anyhow so you don't have to tell them about it. you might remind your client of this fact in your meeting.
in a nutshell give them hell in a legal way so you don't end up getting sued for slander or whatnot.
perhaps you could put up a website, but distribute the actual video feeds on a P2P network.
that is unless you're lanning on charging for the video feed.
as far as format, I would use everything you don't have to pay for(check those License restrictions ahead of time). Record your video with a good DV camera, and then create both high bandwidth and low bandwidth versions in Real, Quicktime, and plain olg mpeg. (note: if you use windows media format, people will associate you with evil and think that you work for Satan so use everything but Windows Media) Give people the option of downloading the clip or srteaming the video, you want to make this easy for anyone to watch.
to see what IP you have type ifconfig...you should see a LO and an eth0, if there is no eth0 it's possible that your NIC isn't a supported one.
other than that...idonknow. there's also "demo-Linux" cd's that do this same thing but with a complete linux desktop, thier site might have more info for you.
there already is a MozillaOS, it's called: ByzantineOS it's bare bones Linux with Mozilla and sawfish. Boots and runs from a CDrom without touching the local harddrive. it's small...and I tried it on 2 machines, all I had to do was pick low or high res, get my connection "dhcpcd" , and start the GUI "startx" real slick once it loads you can remove the cd, and when you're done you don't 'shutdown' you just kill the power....and it's FAST.
regular folks haven't had Linux stuffed down thier throat for the past 10 years...Why do people know how to use windows? because they had to learn...years later, they still know that removing software is all about start--serttings--controlpanel add/remove programs.
I'd rather urpmi xmms than try and download and install winamp.
Life is too short to invest more than that amount of time into somebody else's cash cow.
Unless you have a personal stake/interest in the project beyond keeping your job, tell that mFer to Foff (only do it nicely trying not to burn any bridges;-) )
If however you are generating something residual for yourself, work while the workin is good, then retire, work is work, do something fun with your time while you are still here (becuase you're going to die someday).
I think you're that one guy that has that much patience.
likely never had it before.
Once you get broadband, it's REAL HARD to go back.
Can it run Linux?

then the kid would be illegal because the kid would become your circumvention device to get around the EULA.
source of all evil...that's real good, you made my day. I always tell people and they think I'm a ranting lunatic....now I have proof, thanks so much.

I really thought we'd all be paper-less by 1990...and I'm still waiting. I can organize my data, but if it hits paper...it's gone.
