Just to keep it real, Nixon trounced McGovern (who btw was a highly declarated WWII vetran) with similar attacks on his ability to providea strong defense, McGovern choose to rise above the fray and lost horribly. But just remember only three years later Nixon had been impeached, due to his attempts to thwart the democratic process, and faced possible a prison sentence. Of course his veep Jerry pardoned him, a move that may have cost him the presidency. I say if anything can be proved let's impeach Dick Cheney first or at the same time.

Will somebody pleaseee subscribe to the Homeland Security CyberAlert service? Just in case these people ever get anything right you can post it here for the rest of us. The SF short strory titled "The Oldest Profession" comes to my mind. I can't remember the author and didn't find it in my brief dig an few minutes ago.
In it the aliens were merchants, The aliens would graced us Terrans with some neat technology and add us to the guilds trade route if:
A. We were a species that had desirable materials, products, services or information that we were willing to trade.
B We were willing and able to construct a launch platform in space to assist them on continued explorations and assist the guild as a node on the trade route.Of course they would assist with knowledge and technology, but the task was mostly ours.
If on the other hand we were unwilling or unable to complete the project within the launch window. They would use the energy of our exploding sun to power the trip.The aliens trip was one way, they would never return to here or home.
This issue came up with coworkers a while back. They pretty much all insisted thet it was illegal in Kentucky.
However for me flashed lights mean "hazard ahead". I have always used them that way myself. I have had a few instances where someone else warned me of a hazard like this. It may be that I get into a lot of trouble for trying to warn others about the deer, heavy equipmnet,cop with or without someone pulled over already or even an accident site. So be it.
As far as how the police handle it. As near as I can tell they pretty well do as they like around here.Most I have dealt with are pretty good folks but a few are assholes. Do anything to piss them off and your life will be miserable. So even if they had no real case over flashing of lights, "you were driving recklessly would be a standard charge.Next you may be subjected to "influence testing", towing charges, half of a day lost to court at the least.........

I know it's a bit off topic, but not too much so.
The only thing that has kept me from buying a DirectPC set is that I would have to buy a new MS XP system to act a a gateway. Talk about security issues. Anyone know if it will run in a XP VM under Linux? Firewall issues?
