1. RIM/Blackberry already does this (in a practical way...nothing fancy)
2. How many people have internet access on thier PDA's. Lets work on this first as I would love to have an easy (small) device thats efficient for PDA/Mobile web use that isn't a million$$
http://www.thnt.com/thnt/story/0,21282,720188,00.h tml - That was published today about my old highschool. More student teacher interaction needs to take place, not only to monitor students...but to monitor teachers and make sure they are doing there job. From a parents standpoint, its hard to tell if a teacher is really doing his/her job.
Try the one from GFI, I think it's called mail essentials...i've had good experience with it when I worked for a smail consulting company. I work for a extremely large company now (15k+ employees...thank god nothing to do with email) but they have a serious spam problem. The thing is, they have spam controls in place, but noone wants to use them due to the fact someone might not "get" a legitimate message. I would in the journalism industry/news paper/etc...and if a reporter/journalist misses an email....the IT guys get soo much shit.
Don't give in, it's a secret plot to monitor everyone.

On a serious note. How is privacy affected by "new Technology". Something like "Freedom Net"(forget if it was actaully called this) would be nice for this.
I think TiVo has the right idea with thier technology as far as MPEG encoding goes. I cannot see this as a real "break-through" for PVRs and the like especially considering the predicted performance and "stableness" of windows media running on linux. Granted, I'm sure this will be a neat thing to play with for the home user!
...and you are the guy who told me I have a case of the monday's....mystery solved!
In all seriousness, I never realized how hard it is to get sysadmins to patch, and how big a problem it is. I mean upgrading samba on 100+ servers can get hairy.
How about using that data for trending and spam. They should already have that data from the purchase orders etc. etc...no need to get it again.
my 2 cents.

My girlfriend (yes and shes real)got me an acre on the moon this year for Christmas from the Lunar Registry, republic thing. Aside from it being cool...(they sent me a package with neat stuff to put in my office) do you thing it will hold any water in the future....from what I read..the guy sounds crazy but has a few points about claiming land on the moon..and some official documents.
Any one have any thoughts on this...aside from the usual trolls about wasting money..blah blah...

...how obnoxious, but give it a few minutes...
-rob
Of course I read the documentation, but put a CF wireless card in a zaurus and tell me it will last 6-8 hours on the battery......
;)
Now my blackberry on the other hand..(i have a 857 and a 957) the battery lasts weeks...even the 857 lasts a few weeks on 1 AA.
Give me that in a zaurus-like pda with built in wireless and I'll be happy.
-Rob
I have a zaurus, got it the first day it came out thinking the same thing. I used it....it worked...for about 5 minutes before the damn battery died.
I now only use it for kismet and 802.11 sniffing, as I got really tired loosing all my info when I forgot to put it on the charger for a few days.
So far I have went through and Ipaq, Jornada, Zaurus, and a blackberry and would not know what I would do without my blackberry.

"Who knew Apple even had that kind of cash?"
They don't, they are taking a loan from M$.
-Rob
P.S. Yes. I am joking.
I guess they finally figured out. "hey, if we can't code it right...why not let someone else do it for us".
Just them using Open Source to thier advantage.

The real question is, how much time are people spending resolving the problem of false positives?
We've all been there...the CEO bitches because someone can't get an email through because it has a combination of "adult" "free" in the subject!

Clearly kismet is an essential component....no?

Has anyone reverse engineered this and posted a hack yet? Come on you TiVo hackers....I know who you are!@!

No, I spent monday yelling at people trying to explain to them "WHY" they need to updgrade. Dumb S.A.'s.
Low and behold an intern sysadmin tells me "Looks like someone has a case of the mondays!"

I am sure evolution will jump on the bandwagon. With that said, I think it is safe to say that we need to start thinking about virus and worms.

Maybe cloning M$ isn't a good thing after all

One small step for Linux community...a little bit bigger one for a decent Office Suite.

Saved all us information security folks the grief of our non-technical managers asking if we are going to get hacked...

Man, now I have to sell my acre on the moon, and save up for some property elsewhere....
....and yes...I DO own an acre of land on the moon.....so there..
I'm surprised the folks(weirdos) over at Lunar Republic.com haven't tried to cash in on this yet...
