So so says MS. And this proves it.... Oh damn! Perhaps closed source/copyrights are stifling innovation, preventing inventors and entrepenuers from rapidly exploring new ideas.
First off, hats off to Postgre for showing the world that you don't need a large monster like Oracle to run your databases. Now if only mySQL had some of the same features...
My question is, will this affect the pricing of.org names since they don't have to try to re-coup the costs of a $40,000 database?
It seems to me that one cannot view other submitted comments. How is this going to reflect on their accountability?
It seems like a noble gesture but unless they post the comments how is somebody else able to see another's view point? This would be useful for building up information and one-stepping-up existing comments and information.
And how do we know the comments don't go straight to/dev/null unless they are posted.
It would be interesting to see of comments on the proposed changes to the Privacy Act, tho a little offtopic.
A recent survey of 1 million monkeys indicates that 99.99% of them say that computers are unnecessary and that we can all go back to pen and paper. The other 0.01% where adamant about keeping their Smith-Corina (SP?) typewriters.
So please send all you CPU to me!:)
(Duh, of course we don't need it but it's nice to have!)
Well, to take the water/fire-proof safe a step further. How about placing a computer in the safe and have some sort of wireless setup. Then you would be able to have a backup of your info in a physically safe area.
One problem that I can think of off the top of my head is how is the system going to get power to keep it running? How can we take this further?
