The only thing I can think the person complaining about it being ADB is really referring to is that ADB is a bit slower than USB

ADB inputs at just over 1 Mbps. USB (1.1) is at 12 Mbps.

For a keyboard...I hardly think the difference matters

Apple hasn't used ADB since it first introduced USB on the iMac in 1998

Minor clarification. After the introduction of the imac, Apple released the B&W G3 towers, which although they switched to USB, still contain one ADB port on the back
