OK, folks, you've been reading about Shadowrun here, you might even be thinking it's a fun game to play. Well, look no further! With a telnet client, you can play online. First, I would recommend checking out Shadowrun Detroit, which is the Shadowrun Detroit MUX's homepage. You can actually connect to it at

There's also Shadowrun Seattle, but I would definitely recommend Detroit over Seattle, as I find the atmosphere much more hospitable to players and less twinky, as you don't have as many überpowerful players running around. Give them a try, I'm sure that some of you will like it a great deal. I play Treylis on Detroit and some loser on Seattle whose name I will not reveal, if anybody wants to bother looking me up. I'll be happy to answer any and all questions about the MUX.
Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents, and everyone is writing a book.
Umm... what in the seven hells are you talking about? Technological milestone? Haven't you looked at the game yourself, read any of the reviews, seen any screenshots?
The AI is horrific.
The graphics are horrific.
The bugs are horrific.
Not only does the game play suck, but it accomplishes nothing new whatsoever, save the experience system, which, while somewhat interesting, does not do anything that hasn't been done before and it's not really necessary.

Yes, we have indeed, but I like the hub-system of this one the best. But stop with the Kevin Bacon references already...;-) Anyways, I think that a YOU ARE HERE, like CmdrTaco said in the last set of these to crop up on Slashdot, would have been pretty nifty.
Actually, this was a minor point in a short story by Frank Herbert entitled A-W-F Unlimited... a company called IBMasoleum recorded dead people's brain patterns to do the same thing, pretty much.
Trust me, it really will not be a problem. There are numerous safeties on US plants--Chernobyl, for example, used the cheap single-walled BWR (boiling-water-reactor) while US plants are double walled PWRs (pressurized-water-reactors), much safer.
