Duke3d in Linux
·
· Score: 1
this is the reason I run Windows. I played Duke3d 7 years ago. I can play games when they actually get released! Of course, I'm a gamer, not a programmer or anything like that. Linux is superior for programming and networking, but not for gaming. So I'll stick to my Windows machine and enjoy playing my UT2K3, Neverwinter Nights, and Freedom Force.
Alien vs. Predator was actually very cool and successful. The comic, the novels, the games, all very quality. Now, the Batman vs. Alien and the like...
I wouldn't consider comic book movies a "bandwagon" though. The comic industry as a whole could be called a bandwagon, but if that were the case, then they would've stopped doing quality work a long time ago, but it's still fresh and new. The only reason comic book movies are being made a lot, now, is because we have the technology to make quality movies. *thinks about the Captain America movie and shudders* Before now, the only things we could do were Batman and Superman (and even those had innovative special effects for the time.) As far as the Hulk goes... well... I've got one thing to say to that: Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.
...Looks like that of the Clerks cartoon......or the Xena and Hercules animated movie.
Let us hope and pray that the story is of the same quality of the former, rather than the latter.
1) 4 years between the last (crappy) movie compared to the 10 years between the end of TOS and Star Trek The Motion Picture?
2) See number 1...
3) I can't really argue with this one.
4) Nor this.
5) But... Star Trek 6 was awesome, and Star Trek 5 was terrible. I mean, it's worked in the past. Remember the odd curse of the Star Trek series? Odd numbered movies suck. Even numbered movies are good.
I, for one, liked Nemisis. Yes, it did seem like a two hour long episode, but it seemed like a two hour long GOOD episode. It felt like Star Trek. And it had some absolutely terrific moments (such as when Picard calls for self-destruct and finds that the system is offline). However, I CAN understand how many people wouldn't like it. It just appealled to my TNG fanboyism.
I have the dvd of Free Enterprise, and on the documentaries, it is said many times by the writers that Shatner hated the original draft of the script, which portrayed him as a God in a very "Play It Again, Sam" way. The writers said they were on the phone with Shatner who said that sort of portrayal was very embarrassing and that he was "a fucked up guy." Shatner insisted that they write him as such. Before I saw that movie, I liked most of the work Shatner had done, but after the movie was over, I was overwhelmed by how amazingly cool Shatner really was, and to this day hold that Shatner is "the man" as they say.
One of the things that is so terrific about William Shatner is his knack for self-parody. There seems to be a lot of actors who play serious roles until people discover that they are absolutely hilarious. And William Shatner is absolutely hilarious.

We might as well put pants on Michelangelo's David. That filth just needs to be hidden.
