There are those that have been actively trying to strip away many of the other things we are allowed to have, such as explosives, which when I was a kid was something you could pick up in just about any rural hardware store.
It's not against the law to confront anyone in the state of Florida, doubly so in your own neighboorhood, if you suspect them of wrongdoing.
You can't go running down the street with your gun drawn, you have no police powers, which means you cannot arrest or stop someone, that is true. You can on the other hand go talk to anyone about anything, any where you are legally allowed to be, and if they start beating the tar out of you, you can shoot them and continue shooting them till they stop attacking you.
The only thing that got this whole thing stirred up in the first place was the idiot media who kept posting pictures of Trayvon when he was twelve, rather than of his current adult thug persona which would have garnered absolutely no headlines or sympathy.
Actually most of the time they are not. My own experience in the military you get a little bit of initial training and then occassional refresher training, every 1-6 years or so. (It's been 2 years since I've last shot for the Air Force.) Except for the special forces who generally train on a more regular basis with their weapons. Police are probably no different, they have an anual qualification requirement and that's about it.
Hobbyist on the other, especially enthusiastic hobbyist train ALOT. When I was in my full gun nut days I would shoot 200-500 rounds per week out of my pistol, and 200-300 rounds a week out of my rifle. Now I go shooting maybe once per month or two. When I was going weekly I could quick draw and hit soda can sized targets at 30 yards as fast as I could switch targets and pull the trigger. Now I'm no where near that fast, but I still can draw, put 3 rounds in the 9-10 ring and two more in the head of a silloutte at 10 yard in under 3 seconds. There was an old guy at the last compitition I attended he only had two holes in his targets. A small one in the head, and a big one in the chest. All he was interested in was bullseyes since he had a perfect score.
I would say that most regular hobbiest are much better trained than the police if the news reports on overkill police shootings are any indication.
There is nothing keeping the police and military guys from shooting on their own, but if the guys I work with are any comparison maybe 5-10% shoot occassionally in any given year.
So you are willing to pay to have security guys with really good training right?? Most people are not.
Also last time I check even the military and the police, that supposedly have "really good training" do a really piss poor job at times. That's because there is no such thing as training that will make people flawless at the execution of their duties and in reality the training that the police and military get is not that much better than what you get by going to the shooting range now and then and practicing.

I found it impossible to watch any Thriller after watching Breakdown where the premise of the whole movie would have stalled in the first 5 minutes if one or more of the main characters had a weapon, more specifically a gun and the willingness to use it.

I would say the grand bulk of Right of Ways are actually on public property. Most of the streets you drive on are actually private property. They were built on a road easment specifically for use for the road. I'm sure out west there are quite a few easements for power and internet in use on public land, but back east that is hardly the case.
I am personally locked into a fight with the county to get the road easement (15 foot wide alley) on my property disolved since it is being used heavily as a short cut to avoid a major intersection nearby rather than to give access to my neighobors so they can reach their property.
The only thing you can do is look up the land surveys, which are public record, and look at them to see who the easement was given to. It will be difficult since they were probably handed out some time ago and probably changed hands more than a few times. This is a very labor intensive project, I highly doubt you will find any sort of product that is easy and free.

What people can do, and a scarce currency does exasperates the problem, is hord or rapidly spend currency during market shifts. The whole argument against deflation is a bogus one sold back in the day to justify price controls for farm commodities. Also farmers tended to hold large amount of debt and were more than happy to take a loan and buy stock, land, and equipment and pay the debt back with devalued (inflated) currency.

If you had a dollar and you wanted two so you ripped it in half would you really have two or would have two pieces worth half as much? Most things do not go up in price every year usually they go down, it's just that the value of your dollar is simply going down faster than companies can come up with ways of making things cheaper. Think about what that really means to your set amount of income now that most businesses are no longer giving "cost of living" increases every year.

I don't make 6 figures and I run a military aicraft maintance specialist shop full (15-20) of teens and 20-somethings that are on shift 24 hours a day 7 days a week with some deployed overseas. My "duty day" started 17 years ago and has yet to end, which is to say reguardless of what I'm doing I'm always on call. I've also benn the deployment manager for the entire squadron (290 people). Which means keeping up with all the paperwork and training that is involved before we can deploy them, and make arrangements to transport them to overseas locations. When I'm not working on the aircraft practically my entire job is nothing but admin duties, so I think I have a very firm grasp on the concept of what an Administrator has to go through.
For some odd reason I don't see working 5 days a week in an air conditioned office for 9-10 months out of the year somehow warrents a salary of over $100K. I don't want to hear how they have to work in the summer too, doing what exactly? Paperwork? Hire someone in China to do it for $10 a day or better yet hire some of the unemployed students to do it, because frankly if you can read you are qualified to fill out paperwork. Oh wait that seems to be one of the problems they are having with their students.
I get real tired of hearing how much teachers and admins sacrifice for their kids and especially how HARD their job is. A BS in education is pretty much a joke degree and a Masters in child developement is not much better. These people are paid way too much for piss poor results. It is time for a change. The first being that they need to shoot the sacred "education" cow.
