You should play with the File Server features in Win2k8 before making that claim:
    • File Server Resource Manager
    • Share and Storage Management
    • DFS Improvements
    • Client Side Caching Improvements

Of course, many of these were already available in Win2k3 R2 or in Storage Server.

The parent should not be modded troll. Frequent updates diminish server availability. It's one of the main selling points for Server Core which has about 1/7 the updates as full server because it is not affected by IE, Explorer, and Media Player updates.

MS would never release any build this way. Insinuating such a thing is completely irresponsible for the following reasons.

    1. It would be a slap in the face to partners that are made to wait for real builds that have gone through a known set of tests and have known issues noted with the release.
    2. It would tell all engineers that work hard on the project that quality doesn't matter, because any old build will do.
    3. It would say that MS doesn't care about IP protection, which everyone knows is completely false.
    4. The bits are probably only test signed, so who knows what bits anyone is actually getting.

/. should think harder before they post the next brilliant coup.

Let's take this a bit further for fun... I believe you omitted some important details: 1) What size is your Darth Maul t-shirt? I'm left to assume it is at least XXL based on your beverage choice and sedentary activity you describe. 2) Are you using a laptop or desktop? I have to assume a laptop because you are reclining. 3) Which room in your domicile contains the chair?

Agree totally. There needs to be something to bridge the gap when people have to save costs. Part of that is the right user experience on these appliance boxes. If you have a low-end NAS (running RAID-5), the real problem is that the appliance doesn't have the right user experience to promote best practices and guide the naive home user to back up the NAS system itself. The user is left to think that once data is on the NAS, it is "safe". In addition, This problem is compounded is that on a few low-end NAS boxes, the user experience promotes backing up desktop machines to the NAS. Example: USR8700

I agree with you. Table-top experiences should be beyond something you can play on an MMO or MUD. You just need enough rules to be fair. AD&D didn't have any holes that couldn't be solved in-game.
