    Economic sanctions wont work until we and China do not support them. China needs a shitload of oil and can easily replace any lost sales channels. And I'm sure in case of any escalation our strategic airspace command will secretly alert Iran of any suspicious Israeli activity. Any air attack by Israel will not be a surprise to Iran and I would not be surprised if c-300 systems have already been delivered to Iran.

    Simply because you are hiding your unemployment problems behind extreme welfare benefits (which are only possible because you have a population of just 5 million people and a shitload of gas&oil). According to WP 22% of Norwegians are on welfare and 13% are too disabled to work. id Norway fighting a secret war somewhere? Lack of workplace safety? Perhaps it's engulfed by an epidemics of a nasty disabling decease? How do you nords account for the highest disability rate in the world?

    Really bad analogy. In the 80s so many of us got into computers, first as a hobby then as profession but not into hobbyist engineering or medicine because programming has such a low barrier of entry. Even if I wanted to become an amateur doctor what would be my choices? Practice on kittens?

    You heart is certainly at the right place, but you are very naive. As someone has already replied, unless Norwegians suffer from abnormal rate of accidents or are massively affected by a disabling illness I'm not aware off the 12% are not actually too disabled to work.

    When I wrote the original reply I was fully aware that Norway is somewhat of an outlier case because such nonsense is only possible in a country with 5 million people and a shitload of gas and oil. But it's still a very relevant use case because Norway shares it's hybrid economic system and left wing political ideology with the rest of the Western Europe and is a perfect example of what social democratic wellfare capitalism will degenerate too given a chance. I The great anarchist theoreticians of early 20th century wrote that working is natural and when the pressure to work or die goes away people will turn to whatever creative occupation they are best suited for. Unfortunately it is not true.

    30% on government payroll, 20% on well-fare, 12% too disabled to work. These are stats for Norway, but similar to some of the countries quoted above. Phenomenal my ass, maybe if you greatest aspiration to live on well-fare. But for someone ambitious and determined America is still the place to be. And I'm saying it as a patriotic Russian with no great love for USA. This is the opinion shared by people as diverse as Linux (recently became a naturalized citizen) to president of SpaceX.

    Yeah, I've read the entire interview and I can't believe how spiteful he still is towards Linux and Linus. In nearly every answer he takes a jab at Linux, downplaying it's success or reducing it to dumb luck. He's really bitter for his own baby Minix getting sidelined by Linux.

    iPad does not have an active digitizer and to make matters even worse it has a capacitive screen so you need a special pen and wear gloves to even try to take notes for an extended period of time (like a lecture).

    There is also ep-121 from Asus. A 10'' tablet with Windows 7. And I'm faced with the same situation as a submitter, and I'm really frustrated by the quality of answers. It's either get an iPad which is useless because it does not have an active digitizer or even worse question necessity to take hand written notes. When I need to write down a 2 hour math lecture full not using hand writing is not an option.

    It's a hack and it does not work as well as rpm. I (or someone else) installed (or replaced) git from source. Now dpkg -s `which git` will tell me that it belongs to debian git package? Rpm -qf will give me real information which version of the package the file belongs to or if it's not *owned* by any package.

    I do not claim I know everything about this woman but I can draw reasonable conclusions from the available data. She is in her 80s and an American. Atheists are endangered species in America as is, and were even more rare 70-80 years ago when this woman received her upbringing.

    If you grandmother is really approaching the end of the journey, should not she be concerned with other things other than playing with an iPad? Like praying and saving her immortal soul? Do you think SJ played with an iPad on his deathbed? Get whatever time is needed off work, get the family together, make sure she get's daily visits from a pastor. The most important thing right now is to make peace with God and family.
