    The fragmentation is more the carriers fault than Googles.

    Updates don't make it out so that users have to buy new devices to get updates. Google should force the OHA members hands on this. If you want access to market and the android trademarks you must supply updates to devices for X years.

    If CyanogenMod is fragmentation, then what the fuck are Sense and Motoblur ROMs that these devices ship with?

    I think this is because steam sells cheap games. I have had a steam account since it opened. I still will not risk full price and any game I really expect to like I get a physical copy of so that I can crack it if the day comes that Valve burns me.

    I pretty much stopped buying games, until they added linux support. I am more than willing to risk $6 on Serious Sam 3, even if it means I might one day lose access to the game.

    Huh?

    Assuming the CD key is with the materials where is the problem with it?

    I have several PC games I got that way and they work fine. I guess if you have to register with steam or something that might break it.

    While I hate this concept, I don't think it has that failing. Since it uses a user account instead of a console id adding the user account to the new console should allow replacing units.

    The Wii U is not interesting to me, if the PS4 uses this I will not buy it and I flat out will not have Microsoft products in my house.

    Maybe I should look into that OUYA thing slashdot keeps advertising.

    Odds of brinking one of these devices is near 0.
    I have been doing this for years and have never bricked a device.
    I have put plenty of them into the state where the bootloader is all that works, but a reflash fixes that.

    The non-androids are not powerful enough for repurposing.

    Far from fringe ideas are being ignored already. Anything that does not agree with the current political line gets a BS answer. They had the guy who runs the TSA reply to a petition asking for it to be disbanded or scaled back. I think that pretty much says it all.

    No matter how you count votes or check for support they will ignore it.

    There is a difference between modern trades and being a viking blacksmith.

    A modern tradesmen is not spending his nights starving in a cave. He is not living day to day to feed himself. He has osha to protect him.

    99% of those swords are made in some mostly automated process. They are basically just stamped out in a factory.

    You think you would like to do that work, but once you do it your will wish for your old programming job back.

    I brew beer, make cured meats, bake bread, hunt, fish, but I would not want to do any of those as professions.

    I already brew beer, I also cure meats, bake bread and create many other things.

    I would never want to do any of those for a living in modern society. The hours are long and the pay is shit.

    You only ever hear people with nice soft office jobs make these kinds of dumbass statements. This sort of thing might be fun as a hobby, but as a life it would suck. It is hot, it is dangerous and the pay would not be great.

    No one really wants to do hard work for a shitty living, stop romanticizing it. I think it is an offshoot of the Noble Savage BS.

    I loved the movie and I wish LOTR would have been done in a similar style. This is how you convert a book into a movie.

    I am familiar with running linux in a chroot on android, but I cannot find any links for this Ubuntu on Android thing. It seems like they want to sell it. Is there a package I am just missing?
