    I still bet those drives if you pull power on them will lose the data in their onboard caches.

    Which means they are lying about fsync.

    In that case boot should just be on an SSD, where these issues pretty much disappear anyway.

    Only because of market segmentation. They sell the same drives as Enterprise Grade SATA with these NCQ turned on in firmware as they do to consumers with it turned off.

    Even worse are the RAID controllers(looking at you DELL) that do not disable the cache on the drives when you tell them to disable the write cache. You think your data is safe, then you lose power and what should be an oops has you going to your backups and doing a rebuild or swapping over to a replicated box.

    No, but they have to take driving lessons, their test is far harder and they are willing to remove people from driving for decades or life in some instances.

    How does Darwinism have a good kind?
    I do not believe Darwin intended any moral decisions when he proposed natural selection. If this kills those who decide to use the road then there is a selection pressure against using this road.

    You have a list of companyids to company guids. You take the company name in from the users, but you need the guid, so how would you do it?

    So even a simple method that just load some stuff into a hash and then returns the value that matches the key it was given should be commented?

    At some point the code is so simple it comments itself.

    How many variations?

    Is it an ale or a lager? Since you said piss we can assume you are a lager drinker. Is it filtered or not? Again you said piss so filtered. What kind of hops and how are they used? You said piss so we are going with extract and added after the boil. Are we using adjuncts or not? You said piss, so most of the grainbill will be rice and corn.

    You have made budweiser, hope you are happy. If you want a beer that tastes like something stop buying beer that looks like piss.

    Words are defined by use not by logic. Hitler was not a socialist, he was far right wing. You are essentially using the word socialism as a stand in for authoritarian market systems. Using clearer wording would convey what you are trying to say.

    Your ideas might be interesting, but your redefining of words makes communication more difficult than needed.

    I am not a homosexual, not sure why you would think I was. I have some gay friends I can introduce you to if you are looking for a date.

    I own only 1 apple device, a macbook air running linux. I despise the iOS devices.

    I have a nook, which has an lcd and it works great.

    The tax rates available from the state generally is only updated once a year, and not at the same time as the county/town. This means you have to buy a subscription to a service to handle this, and they well may not be 100% up to date either. Then you have to check if the user in the county/town whatever, for practical reasons they means asking like you have seen.

    Hard is the wrong word though, it is not a hard problem just one you have to solve over and over. The real problem is when you find out you did it wrong for a location, which will happen. Then your lawyer decides what you do about it.

    That study did not seem very complete. I would bet on a strong placebo effect.

    Eyestrain from backlit screens is another one of those bullshit conditions. People spend 8 hours looking into an LCD, then go home and spend another couple hours looking at a bigger LCD. No one ever complains about the monitor or the tv, but if its a book they say "oh noes lcd will burn the eyeballs out of your sockets!!".

    Because it does not impact my life.
    Errors so subtle no one notices them are not important. I am not doing my taxes on my D1. BTW the only reason the D1 was ever clocked down to 550 was for battery life.

    Where is the risk? Oh noes my grocery list might be off by 1 carrot!

    The kindle reader application works great on any android device. I use it all the time.

    Too bad it does not do either of those regularly.
    I actually do overclock a D1 and it has been doing fine for years that way.

    I am not suggesting anything is good for everyone, but my reality conflicts with your claims.

    and a nice horribly slow refresh rate, no games, no netflix, or any other useful application.

    Eink is not a tablet replacement.

    Sales tax is not state by state, it is county by county or in some states town by town.

    I have been involved in projects to do this and it is a huge PITA. State sales tax is easy, town or county are hard since zip codes and other such normal address data do not tell you if they are within a town/county or not.
