Is the money going to distributed for the affected customers.?
Do u think they will get their share of the "goodies" ?? when they are the ones who were most affected!!!!
hi all...
I am a newbie to the Open source community.. just started to closely watch the activites going on in the various Open source forums... I have few BIG clarifications/doubts about the open source community.... * There are so many working in the open source projects.. who pays them ? Is everything a volunteering work ????
* how do they manage to put in so much effort apart from their regular job at some commercial company ? what is the driving force ?? interests in programming ? or not satisfied with their regular job? or is it do something to STOP microsoft !! i am really not clear about this !!
* how do they find time to do so much ?
* is the company they work for aware of the employee who is working for them spending so much time for some thing not useful to them !! (either during the work or after work !! )
I am sure lots of them reading this are people with deep roots in OPen source development... can clarify my doubts about the Open source !!!
I think the option of going to Linux or java is so easy... how long do u forsee before a system like SAP is implemented in a company using java/linux with its engineers for T.O.C !!!
u will have to go thru the complete product cycle including design.. implementation.. and above all TESTING !!!
even after that u are not sure if what u developed works fine with the requirement.
Do u think any commercial organisation who would like to make some quick money (and implementation) would prefer Linux/ Java for a project of size like SAP !!! no way....
note: I am not a microsoft supporter.....
I have been working in similar lines to come up with a routing protocol and addressing other issues in the Mesh networks... as a part of my graduate research..
I see there are still lots of open issues in this like Fairness, what if all the nodes use one of poor guy in the middle for all their traffic!!
and we need to think of lot other issues when u are trying to exploit this commerically.. (where u provide the gateway ) how many gateways are needed ? where to position them ? how much bandwidth can I gurantee my user.. !!!!
Will it work fine if the user is travelling at a speed !!
I would be glad to get in touch with anyone who is working on similar issues !!
