Truly no one was injured at the Tribune either. Same thing would happen if someone died of paper cuts while it was printing I'm sure. Or to make a closer analogy, Same results if someone died from ingesting the ink they use in the Tribune (assuming its not labeled unsafe).
The 17 cents seems to be along the lines of the chef (Chicago Tribune) seeing the problem before its been served (delivered) and remaking the burger (printing what they can).
So I would say its very much the same world
"Have you ever considered that you'd be happier if you lost 10 kg?" (implication: obese people cannot/should not be happy; if they're we'll make it damn sure they'll feel bad after we've pointed out their physical deficiencies)"
You are letting on that you don't entirely believe this - deficiencies imply they are not up to par with the norm and thus imply that they should loose that 10 kg.
In the end though, I do agree. It's up to the individual to decide how to live, and no one else.
One could assign a number to a person (randomly generated) and the same number to the vote. The database of all votes can be made public for read access. Every individual can check their vote, and every individual can tally all the votes.
Its time to get a group of coders together, research all the useless Microsoft GUI patents and put them in one GUI (non microsoft of course).
If they decide to defend their patents, we can take our stand against these trivial patents. We can open the eyes of all to what makes it through the patent office. Of course, if they don't do anything, we have... uh.... hmm, a gui that few people would ever want to use?
When is the last time you were moved by a text to speech program reciting poetry? Or been put to sleep by a monotone lecturer?
Performance is just as important in language as in music
Because blind people can't ride in the backseat of a car? Also, ATMs are walkup machines too... and it's cheaper to design fewer machines.
