Why doesn't she just make a guild that has as one of its principles not to use language like 'That's so gay!' and 'I just got ganked! What a fag!' and promotes non-confrontational language. This seems better for a guild than a guild based on which gender you like to have sex with.
I am pretty sure that University profs and middle management have sabotaged the servers in an effort to increase the attendance rates and productivity that has been seen since the outset of the game.
The strategy for this sort of process is relatively simple. If many people run these programs all the time, the scammers will adapt thier servers. If many more run them only on randomized dates, then the bandwidth spikes, the server crashes and they have to buy better hardware/bandwidth...but with a spike that crashes the question becomes: How much? If the new better server/bandwidth can't handle the next spike, the scammer has to buy another upgrade...but again, how much?
Gradual slopes are easily handled, spikes are not.
One way to slow down or stop relative to Mars would be to carry weights with you on your way there. That darned law of physics that says that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction would come in handy. Say your Shuttle weighs 1 ton, then carry along 1 ton of dead weight. When you get to Mars, fire some actuators or boosters to throw the dead weight off into space and the shuttle stops or slows.
You could have the whole contraption spinning and use centrifical(sp?) force to throw off the shuttle, stopping it, and send your weight off into space.
Do you think that strengthening a synapse is the cellular event that coincides with associating one stimulus with another? Think of 2 fields of neurons both connected up with another field in the cerebral cortex responsible for salivation. One field is responsible for signalling the bell, the other is responsible for smelling the food. When the two fields are active at the same time they strengthen the synaps between them and the cortical field responsible for salivation. The more times you let the dog smell the food, the more he salivates. The bell is rang simultaneously, then not-so-suddenly the bell-ringing field can trigger salivation. Associative learning. Associative memory is very similar, just replace "food" with "rape" and "bell" with "dark alley" and your rape victim is associating dark allies with rape. The response, then is her memory and the fear associated with it.
I thought it was a good primer for the educated masses. I'm sorry it doesn't meet your lofty standards. I'm sure you know where to go for that cutting edge research.
Intracellular signaling pathways might be a little complicated for the general SciAm reader. But everyone has seen some genetics, I guess it was on the cover of TIME not to long ago.
What you are looking for is a drug that induces retrograde amnesia. This will block memories from forming from events that occured just before you took the drug. NMDA receptor blockers such as PCP (Angel Dust) work well at that. At high levels alcohol also work to block NMDA receptors, thus, when you drink enough you block your memories from forming.
Knocking out all the extracellular matrix will knock out memory like knocking out all cement will disrupt the highway system. Is cement the "key" to our transportation system? NO, but its one part that works in the greater system. We traveled before we had cement. Among other countless features found in memory cortex, you need specialized long term neurons, long term glia, vasculature and the ex-cell matrix to all work harmoniously to maintain memories long term. In Alzheimers you lose even the long term memories and what you see is a decrease in neuron number as well as disruption of accessory cells (glia/vasculature) and disruption of the ex-cell matrix. The hallmark being neuronal dropout.
You say that there is a correlation between structure and ability, then say that there is no correlation between genetics and ability, then say that genetics (and experience)...shapes structure. I am not following the logic:
Structure=ability
Genetics=/ability (does not equal)
Genetics=structure
Contradiction?

Humans ain't that diff'rent. Getting that out of the way...there are differences both between individuals and between groups of individuals who can be grouped together based on sex, ancestry, and age, etc. This does not suggest differences in quality of person/group by any means - merely on abilites (and very little at that). Individuals need to be judged as individuals with discrimination based on the "group" the person belongs to never being considered. If everyone could agree on this we wouldn't be wasting our time trying to work these sorts of things out.
To get to the truly interesting part of the gender behavior/brain differences issue I will suggest that the hormones account for the greatest role creating the differences between the "innate" abilities of men and women (i.e natural abilities, not nurtured ones)
Testosterone and estrogen both regulate scores (if not hundreds) of protiens in the cells of the brain. Both the amount of certain protiens and their activity are regulated by hormones. Not to be a reductionist, but as a scientist, that's what I do. So if these protiens are altered based on +/- hormone then the cells will behave differently when responding to stimulus. So while in a sports car with a friend on a straightaway in a desert a man will probably respond by increasing his speed, a woman would respond (or not respond) by continuing her description of her wedding dress. Again, this has questionably accurate predictive value for use on nonsensical scenarios.
If you accept the idea that hormones effect brain protiens the next question is: How much? And few would dispute that other factors can trump all gender/ethnic-based generalities. Things like increased education in math and science for females will trump a difference in the hardwired natural ability difference (if one exists). Increased education on communication skills for males will attenuate these differences (except for me, I'm hapless.) So I would tenatively conclude that general differences in groups created by the body only work to push these groups in certain ways, but not determine individual ability.
Really, most of this is just wordy ways of saying what you probably already knew. But that's my 2c.
Hating behavior arguments that cite brain structure is like hating "Car Talk" because they talk about what is under the hood. I'm not sure if you don't like these arguments because you see that the macroscopic brain anatomy is used as evidence for a causal association with behavior when it is actually just correlative. i.e A brain that looks like this makes a person better at math. Versus: People that are better at math also have brains that look like this. I don't know why such a distinction would make one mad, but don't become blind to a discussion just because they are referencing brain anatomy.
In truth, as you may well know there is a relationship between the physical shape of the brain and behavior. However, we can characterize this only generally and simply and certain folks love to take this data and run with it. Correlative evidence is still evidence, but you gotta corroborate.

Hypothalamus or hippocampus?
Hypothalamus: Crude desires like hunger, thirst, sex.
Hippocampus: Memory consolidation, formation.

Anyway, service has been fine for me.

Where is a good patent lawyer when you need one?
Totally off topic. Smoke another one.
