The last thing I'd want to be liable for in this litigious, passive aggressive, soccer mom ridden culture is a free range roving robot programmed by the same company that designed android's security and reliability.
I don't think you get what 'misogynist' actually means. Criticizing specific women for their stupid statements is not misogyny. If they were all replaced by men making the same stupid comments, I'd make the same criticisms. What I don't get is why there are so many men like you who will white knight for them no matter what, often without even having complete understanding of the situation.
Except that it's come to mean "If you don't agree with my self-established victimhood you're a hater." You're welcome to change out 'hater' for the equivalent ad hominem for the attribute of the group or individual under 'attack.'
Regardless of which group they are claiming victimhood for, SJWs largely operate with the same strategy: drum up some controversy with fallacious appeals to gain notoriety and then label any criticism they get as bigotry (you just hate women/gays/whatever). I'm pointing out the hypocrisy that results from this behavior. All you're doing is calling me names because you don't have an argument. Equating rosa parks, who was resisting bonafide caste restrictions, with the bs of sarkeesian/wu/zoe quinn and friends about video games is crazy.
Ignoring them only works until they get the attention of someone bigger than you, like your boss or the government. Then the crocodile tears become toxic.
So what if the FBI is investigating. Why do you expect your assumptions to coincide with their conclusions? Any large following will have a few crackpots making threats. Feminists do it too (the scum manifesto comes to mind, all the way to the amanda marcott types). I suppose you are just as eager for their crackpots to go to jail right? Somehow, I doubt it.
The last thing we should be doing is folding to these professional victims. Colbert (or his boss) was a coward. Out of all the flack comedy central gets for shows like southpark, it's anita sarkeesian's pity party that makes them fold? Something doesn't add up.
The last thing I want is touch screens in my car. I want tactile controls. What the fuck is so terrible about a few knobs and sliders? At least I don't have to look at them while I'm driving.
well scientists care about these things because the more knowledge we have of the past the better we can predict the future. scentists on the other hand, only care about the stench of your butt.
That's ok as the majority that is interested in technology is male. Guys don't go to conferences like this to hook up for the same reasons they don't go to nightclubs to talk about linux: neither is a reasonable expectation.
1. argument from authority. It's actually part of a long time conspiracy among so-called 'journalists' to promote victimhood among women (and other groups) in order to justify authoritarian ideology. They call it 'making a difference' in 'journalism' university programs.
2. It's the anti-gamergate crowd that can't handle criticism of their fallacious accusations, which they label as 'misogyny'. It's these accusations that ignited the long brewing issue in the first place.
Large amorphous groups like gamergate (and yes, feminist groups and organizations as well) all have a few crackpots making threats. I am sure a few will be found, but that does not alter the legitimacy of the arguments made. I wouldn't be so quick to believe what three letter agencies put out either, especially since they are beholden to political bodies with interests in specific outcomes for the sake of image.
..and yet here you are, posting anyway. Thing is, the tempest entered the teapot from outside. Games are just one of the newer fronts on a much larger, ongoing cultural conflict.
I can understand you want the conflict to just go away, but that doesn't mean both sides are without argument and are just assholes.
You forgot to add #ThinkOfTheWomen to your little hashtag list. At least then your posts wouldn't leak your obvious opinion on the issue you claim not to care about.
leftists blame the insurance companies and rightists blame the government. Who to believe, who to believe.. Meanwhile, we all get fucked by a government that caters to the rich.
We have skyrocketing costs everywhere due to inflation from excess federal borrowing and increasing tax that has flattened economic growth. I'm talking about what the healthcare act did on its own. The fact is, my coverage was quite reasonable for the cost until the new system took effect.
Like you, I was speaking anecdotally. The likely reason you've haven't seen any raise in costs is that you and your buddies are insured by your employers. Eventually your future paychecks will feel the hikes, but those of us who have our own plans saw them almost immediately when the new rules took effect. We got notices in the mail that the old plans are to expire by the end of this year. The new ones are 2x the price with almost half the benefits. While I cannot offer proof (and I never claimed to), the correlation between that event and obamacare is pretty damned high. After all, the additional costs for the new rules you mentioned have to be made up somewhere.
I would use some critical thinking and not just depend on 'argument-from-authority' driven 'fact check' sites. They are magnets for corruption. I am not implying that factcheck.org is wrong, but you shouldn't take them at face value either.
Yeah great, until those trusted with the collected output of the citizens become too legally disconnected from them. Then it becomes easier and easier to build a plutocracy that justifies using that resource for other agendas. The USA has this problem already, but the EU is also a prime example, esp with the layers of immunity between the average european citizen and one of these EU unelected committees. The well-meaning leftist reaction to this is to grow the size of the state to regulate the rich, but what ends up happening is that the rich use the expanded powers against the rights of the citizens who lobbied for the expansion. People are starting to wake up to this and are forming parties like UKIP.
ALL democratic systems require a population that isn't too willing to have it shoved up their asses, but unfortunately, the current cultural trend is towards accepting this as the new normal. It's what you're calling 'solidarity.' I'd rather let them have their million dollar villas than have their million dollar villas AND use an expanded state to enslave me financially at my own expense.
The last thing I'd want to be liable for in this litigious, passive aggressive, soccer mom ridden culture is a free range roving robot programmed by the same company that designed android's security and reliability.
Correct. Welcome to orwellian newspeak. The terms end up meaning the opposite of their true meaning.

It's amazing how you boys are so willing to white knight for lying wenches.
The last thing I want is touch screens in my car. I want tactile controls. What the fuck is so terrible about a few knobs and sliders? At least I don't have to look at them while I'm driving.
Maybe it just lets the magic smoke out of the storage and ram chips.

Yup, sorry, was a bit lazy there.
Actually I didn't respond because it's his post that's loaded with fallacy.
Sure beats the overstuffed doilies everywhere style that overly emotional people prefer.
That's ok as the majority that is interested in technology is male. Guys don't go to conferences like this to hook up for the same reasons they don't go to nightclubs to talk about linux: neither is a reasonable expectation.
Just as gamergate is skeptical of conspiracies like 'patriarchy theory'.

Fox News with a left friendly bias = MSNBC, NYT et al. Welcome to koolaid flavored 'news.'
Who are you to say what others can joke about?

That doesn't mean we should quit resisting the trend towards total state ownership.
